Trump/Media Meeting Today Like a Firing Squad

Donald Trump scolded media big shots during an off-the-record Trump Tower sitdown on Monday, sources told The Post.

“It was like a f–ing firing squad,” one source said of the encounter.

“Trump started with [CNN chief] Jeff Zucker and said ‘I hate your network, everyone at CNN is a liar and you should be ashamed,’ ” the source said.

“The meeting was a total disaster. The TV execs and anchors went in there thinking they would be discussing the access they would get to the Trump administration, but instead they got a Trump-style dressing down,” the source added.

A second source confirmed the fireworks.

“The meeting took place in a big board room and there were about 30 or 40 people, including the big news anchors from all the networks,” the other source said.

“Trump kept saying, ‘We’re in a room of liars, the deceitful dishonest media who got it all wrong.’ He addressed everyone in the room calling the media dishonest, deceitful liars. He called out Jeff Zucker by name and said everyone at CNN was a liar, and CNN was [a] network of liars,” the source said.

“Trump didn’t say [NBC reporter] Katy Tur by name, but talked about an NBC female correspondent who got it wrong, then he referred to a horrible network correspondent who cried when Hillary lost who hosted a debate – which was Martha Raddatz who was also in the room.”

The stunned reporters tried to get a word in edgewise to discuss access to a Trump Administration.

“[CBS Good Morning co-host Gayle] King did not stand up, but asked some question, ‘How do you propose we the media work with you?’ Chuck Todd asked some pretty pointed questions. David Muir asked ‘How are you going to cope living in DC while your family is in NYC? It was a horrible meeting.”

Trump spokeswoman Kellyanne Conway told reporters the gathering went well.
“Excellent meetings with the top executives of the major networks,” she said during a gaggle in the lobby of Trump Tower. “Pretty unprecedented meeting we put together in two days.”

The meeting was off the record, meaning the participants agreed not to talk about the substance of the conversations.

The hour-long session included top execs from network and cable news channels. Among the attendees were NBC’s Deborah Turness, Lester Holt and Chuck Todd, ABC’s James Goldston, George Stephanopoulos, David Muir and Martha Raddatz,

Also, CBS’ Norah O’Donnell John Dickerson, Charlie Rose, Christopher Isham and King, Fox News’ Bill Shine, Jack Abernethy, Jay Wallace, Suzanne Scott, MSNBC’s Phil Griffin and CNN’s Jeff Zucker and Erin Burnett.

Arthur Sulzberger, publisher of The New York Times, plans to meet with Trump Tuesday.

There was no immediate comment from the Trump Team.

As you sow, so shall you reap? it looks like some good things are coming from Trumps style, the networks can now get a real look at how some actually feel about them.

looks like some of them missed the memo and blabbed anyways.

What ever he told them they had it coming. I hope he limits they access to his Administration until they can prove they can be FAIR. If they can't drop the Liberal hit pieces then let them set on the sidelines and watching Trump release his news by video on the internet. Serves them right.

I agree with Bannon.
Good for Trump. One thing about it, he's no coward. Hits things head on.
They more than deserved the dressing down. I hope we all get to celebrate it.
Fox News has been the only one even remotely fair. Too bad Megyn Kelly wasn't invited.

Have to laugh at Megyn when she tries to say her coverage of Trump was fair and balanced. I stopped watching her during the election because of her coverage of the sexual assault allegations. She was like a dog with a bone, the first 20 minutes of her show every night was all about the allegations and seemed every other topic turned to it too. Gingrich was right she was all about the sex stories but not so much on the leaked emails proving Hillary's corruption.
According to one of Bill's victims Megyn called her a liar as she didn't report Bill's assault on her when it happened, but Megyn reported the Trump accusations like they happened yesterday even though the first to come out supposedly happened over 30 years ago, was not reported then and was proven a hoax as fast as her face hit the so called news channels. Bill's victim said the reason she didn't report it was she was scared of Clintons which was a common thread through all the accusations about Clintons, but that didn't seem to matter to Megyn. The hypocrite part of Megyn's coverage was according to Megyn's own book she was sexual harrassed by Roger A. from FOX about 10 years ago. Gretchen Carlson left FOX and took her boss to court and got a multi million dollar settlement but did we hear anything about Megyn's assault, nope it came out in her blockbuster book after she talked to the Murdock Bros. to make sure her job was safe. They say the Murdock Bros are as Liberal as they come so was Megyn looking to cash in by going after her Conservative boss and Trump, as her contract is coming up?

Megyn, Hannity and Orielly don't seem to get along. Did you see Hannity go after her on Twitter for something she said while on her book promotion tour? Bill was out promoting his kids book and was asked about the Sex Allegations at FOX and Megyn's book and he got mad and said he wasn't there to talk about it and wasn't going to say anything more that people that work for an organization should show their loyalties to that organization and not go out to intentionally make them look bad. I was looking forward to Bill and Megyn's face to face on his show the other night but turned out when she was on promoting her book Bill was on a break from the show and had Eric B. setting in for him. Would have love to see him take her down a few notches but he might not have for the sake of the network.
