Truth in labeling

I'm making salads for the branding tomorrow. We have a couple of people who are trying to watch their sugar intake so I got a tub of Sugar Free Cool Whip. Yep, that's written on the label in BIG LETTERS: SUGAR FREE.

I was looking on the list of ingredients on the back and here is what the first two ingedients were. 1. Water 2. Corn Syrup* with an astrik.
So I found the astrik at the bottom of the list and it says, Corn Syrup adds a trivial amount of sugar.

If they hyped it as SUGAR FREE and then had to qualify it, why would I believe there isn't a lot of sugar in the product?

Well, I thought it was interesting.

Our youngest son is boarder line diebetic... Yup it's tough finding sugarfree that is really sugar free. We like the juice with splenda though. And the sugar free candy is very good. No sugar but tons of calories...

Our daughters Boyfriend is a diabetic,I'm really having a hard time cooking for him :? The sucra sugar is good but anything else is hard...I thought maybe fat free might be lower in sugar...no,its actually higher.I work with diabetics all the time know what they should eat but making a meal for him is heck. You really have to read the labels, sugar free isn't always sugar free.

Mr. FH needs to watch his sugar intake and I have been using Splenda.
He doesn't mind at all. Usually I hate imitation sugar as it burns my mouth. But I can handle splenda.

I have a super recipie for scones that are good with Splenda.

I find usually I can just subsitute it for real sugar.
