Turning Out Bulls

Today we turned the bulls out.

Gathering the bulls up. They've been looking over the fence at the cows, but luckily stay put nicely with three fences, an access road, and four lanes of traffic separating them  .

Oh, did I mention the railroad is another border... guess they won't be getting in with the neighbor's cows easily either :D . We don't have to cull traveling bulls, they would probably cull themselves if they dare tried to leave :) .

Following the old Lincoln Highway...

Now for the part I hate, crossing underneath the Interstate. I turn bulls out on sundays so there's less traffic to deal with.

The cattle look very good. It appears you have it all figured out when it comes to getting bulls moved to be turned in with the cows. Nice pictures.

Wellllll, thats what I thought it looked like from the tail....but wasn't sure...  besides around here they don't trap them, you just call the State Trapper and he comes and shoots them!(you know Americans and the gun thing!!!!) we went from cool spring weather to 90+ in a day, so I think my brain needs a day or two to catch up.. our trees went from a hint of green to full blown leaves overnight basically

Just teasing. Our pastures on the Battle River,we have a point the Natives used to camp, can see for MILES. I like to sit on the point and watch the Beavers, can watch them for hrs....greg thinks they're a HUGE pain in the butt because hes always fenceing where the Beavers have taken down trees for thier damns. And riding the treed pasture can be a pain also because of fallen trees the Beavers knock down.

Our county will come out and blow up the damns....but I encourage greg not to do that

Geezzz...even I knew what it was!!!!

We have a ' shooting party' when the beavers go on attack!! Tear a hole in the dam......wait till about dusk when they come out to fix it.

One year Mom planted all these pretty fancy expen$ive flowering trees in her yard. She got to enjoy them exactly one day as that nite the beavers snuck up from the creek bottoms and nailed them all!!!

We had another beaver party within about 2 nites!!!

Well, if you measured by the language my Mother was using the next AM when she discovered what had happened....you'd swear 10, 000 had attacked!!!

We shot 3 that nite....tore up their dam.....if any were left over, they took the hint and hightailed it downstream.!!!

Used to take care of those dams and lodges with a little ANFO and half a stick of dynamite in each-- but in these days its getting almost impossible to get your hands on.....
