USDA's latest ag trade update is something of a mixed bag, as U.S. ag exports fell in July and August while U.S. ag imports jumped. The value of U.S. ag exports in July and August fell 5%, with the value of bulk product exports plummeting nearly 20%. At the same time the value of ag imports climbed by 6%.
USDA says red meats, corn and other grain products have seen the biggest export gains this year. Poultry and soybeans are the only commodities to show value declines compared to last year, with soybean export values well below last fiscal year's. See USDA Agricultural Trade Update.
