The military general credited with capturing Saddam Hussein and killing the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, says he has spoken with President Obama only once since taking command in Afghanistan.

"I’ve talked to the president, since I’ve been here, once on a VTC [video teleconferece]," Gen. Stanley McChrystal told CBS reporter David Martin in a television interview that aired Sunday.

"You’ve talked to him once in 70 days?" Mr. Martin followed up.

"That is correct," the general replied.

This revelation comes amid the explosive publication of an classified report written by the general that said the war in Afghanistan "will likely result in failure" if more troops are not added next year. Yet, the debate over health care reform continues to dominate Washington’s political discussions.

Former U.S. Ambassador for the United Nations John R. Bolton said this was indicative of Mr. Obama’s misplaced priorities.

Of course, to be fair, he's a busy man.

Of course he has also been on vacation freshing up his tan.

Lets not also forget that. Then of course there are the weekly meeting of people he wishes to swoon. He has weekly dinner parties with member sof congress the senate and celebrities. They feast on flown in chicago pizza, Kobe beef from japan. Specialties from the islands.

You have to wonder if he has had one member of the armed forces that is serving this country for dinner?

The news is just out he will be flying to denmark for the awarding of the olympics. Rush Limbaugh says he bets he has talked to Chicago Mayor daily weekly.

Then you can bet in the last 70 days he has spoke to members of acorn or their attorneys.

Then lets not forget all of his golf outings.

All of this while he alledges the war in afganistan is the most important war of al time.

I think there is a chain of command in the military. Gen. McChrystal, talks to Gen. Petreous and Gen Petreous talks to Secretary of defense Gates and then Gates talks to the President. There may not have been a need for the President to talk to McChrystal in person. Going around the chain of command is frowned upon in the military according to a three star that is a neighbor of mine.

Absolutely there's a chain of command. And I'm sure Bush did no different. My point is that Bush was savaged for not listening to his generals, while Obama will likely get a pass.

Of course, I guess if you hardly ever talk to them, it's tougher to accuse you of not listening. :D

Of course there's a chain of command....but it does not apply to the President. He's at the top...he could talk with the General anytime... and should do it.
