U.S. Continues to Violate World Health Organization Guidelines for BSE
January 23, 2004 Michael Greger, M.D. for the Organic Consumers Association

Now Available at http://www.organicconsumers.org/madcow/Greger.pdf
The United States is violating all four concrete recommendations laid down by the World Health Organization to prevent the spread of BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy), or Mad Cow disease, into the human population. Inadequate testing of the brains of U.S. cattle is likely missing hundreds of cases of BSE and inadequate testing of the brains of human dementia victims is likely missing hundreds of cases of the human spongiform encephalopathy, sporadic Creutzfeldt Jakob disease. New research suggests that some of these cases of the sporadic form of CJD may be caused by eating BSE-infected meat. Until we follow the guidelines set forth by the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and enact science-based safeguards proven to work in Europe-such as a total ban on the feeding of slaughterhouse waste, blood and excrement to farmed animals, and dramatically increased surveillance for both these diseases-the safety of the American food supply will remain in question.

An article dated Jan 04 from an organic site. Great contribution Roper! Thanks for sharing!

Maybe you should google some 'Yo mama' jokes. They would be just as informative & entertaining!

Linda Detwiler, who was head of the BSE division of the USDA, knew years ago that we should start testing the entire brain of cattle instead of just the Obex.

Her biggest fears were lack of USDA Integrity and a mutation/atypical BSE.

She was met with fierce resistance and resigned. I imagine she was asked to.

She was one of the consultants for McDonalds in their recent slamming of precautions in the USA.

We wouldn't be in the position we are in now had she stayed on. She was also for Creekstone being able to test.

Im just trying to make a point. If I wanted to I could post negative stuff about the US beef industry all day long.
I simple did a search with keywords US beef cover up. I got results for an endless amount of atricles.
I suspect this is what the rcalfers do with Canadian beef. Just surf the web and look for stuff to make us appear to be the evil empire of the beef world.

I think being informed is very important- and looking at both sides of the issue is needed- but everything you posted has previously been posted on here- and was discussed when it was current news...This old stuff just looks like a "my daddy is tougher than your daddy" thing....
