Add to the sugar all the refined carbs with finely ground flower etc and your body is almost all the time on a sugar fix. Plus the fact that many do not give the pancreas a chance to work properly by snacking in between and you have a recipe for our state of affairs.

Oh and while I am on a bit of a rant. How about the MSG which is one of the few things that makes mice obese in most everything that we buy.

The way to make food taste good is to add sugar, salt, and/or fat. The food makers know this.

But who buys "staple" food products anymore? (Rice, beans, peas, flour, meal etc)

All the meals that pop in the microwave are full of junk.

If the public stopped buying it, they would quit making it.

We are victims of our own desires.

These folks are finally getting something right.

Sugar and refined carbs spike blood sugar because they are digested fast. The body controls the blood sugar spike by sending the excess glucose to the liver to be combined with three fat molecules to form a triglyceride molecule that is sent to a fat cell for storage...making you fat!

Fat, on the other hand, digest slowly and glucose is released at a more regulated rate and doesn't trigger a spike in blood sugar and doesn't cause conversion to triglycerides and storage...fat doesn't make you fat!!
