UN talks over treaty to curtail "small arms"--could impact US gun owners--
John Bolton on "On the Record" (Fox News.) Iran is at the negotiating
table!! :???:

On July 27th, Barack Hussein Obama Intends To Sign A United Nations Treaty That Will "Legislate Gun Control In The United States" Through The Backdoor Via The United Nations "And Effectively Repeal Our Second Amendment."

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. Those are the words of Dick Morris, the threat to your liberties is real and imminent, and Morris is not alone. Chris Cox, the executive director of the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), is sounding the alarm as well:

"Representatives from many of the world's socialist, tyrannical and dictatorial regimes [are gathering] at the United Nations headquarters in New York for a month-long meeting, in which they'll put the finishing touches on an international Arms Trade Treaty that could seriously restrict your freedom to own, purchase and carry a firearm."

It's happening right now... at this very moment. The member states and thugocracies of the United Nations have been meeting, behind closed doors with Hillary Clinton, since July 2nd to hammer out the final details on their so-called Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) and Barack Obama, HAS VOWED to sign it on July 27th.

John Bolton: The UN's Real Agenda Is Gun Control

If this treaty stands as law in the US it will be because the US Government voted to approve it not because Obama signed it. Will that happen or is Hillary and Obama negotiating in bad faith knowing the treaty will never get approval from those that have to face those who voted for them, The American people in Nov.? I'm betting if Obama forces this issue he and those that vote to approve it will not hear the end of it at the ballot box. :mad:

Think of it this way if Obama thought he had the support and the votes to get Gun Control passed to destroy the 2nd Amendment, His Administration would not have implimented Fast and Furious or gone to the UN. They would have just stuff it down your throats like they did with the Healthcare Industry Takeover and Automobile Indusrty takeover. Since they are taking this route has to say something about the amount of support even he believes he has for this far left agenda item.

What will Oldtimer do when Obama threatens to take away his Barney Fife Hip decoration and he can't charm all the Wateringhole women with it anymore. :? Will he be a man and admit enough is enough with this Big Government Freedom robbing President or will he continue to drink the koolaid and defend his hero? :roll:

As of September 14, 2011, 58 US Senators (45 Republicans and 13 Democrats) have expressed their opposition to an ATT that would limit the Second Amendment rights of US citizens

since their are a few republicans who didn't go on record as opposing it ,.. one could say it is bipartisan opposition..

On 12 July 2012, the United States issued a statement condemning the selection of Iran to serve as vice president of the conference. The statement called the move "outrageous"

an one has to wonder why so few Americans still feel the UN is relevant?

Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties 1969

Article 12
Consent to be bound by a treaty expressed by signature

1. The consent of a State to be bound by a treaty is expressed by the signature of its representative when:
(a) the treaty provides that signature shall have that effect;
(b) it is otherwise established that the negotiating States were agreed that signature should have that effect; or
(c) the intention of the State to give that effect to the signature appears from the full powers of its representative or was expressed during the negotiation.

2. For the purposes of paragraph 1:
(a) the initialling of a text constitutes a signature of the treaty when it is established that the negotiating States so agreed;
(b) the signature ad referendum of a treaty by a representative, if confirmed by his State, constitutes a full signature of the treaty.

if confirmed by his State,

our state or country requires a 2/3rd affirmative vote to consent..

and while some US administrations have tried to follow treaties in the past.. that aren't worth the paper they were signed on.. our law is clear...

unfortunately our leaders can't seem to understand that as they grasp more power from the people and give up more rights and sovereignty to the UN and other world organizations..

It is amazing that we are even at this point of discussion to begin with.

Some day we will have an all out war over issues such as this one. It is not a matter of putting the fire out but rather asking why did they throw the match to begin with? Once it is burned, it has to be rebuilt or regrown. It aint like instant potatoes.
