We have a Dolly Madison plant here in my town and, fortunately, it is one of the ones being reopened. When the unions pretty much put Dolly out of business there were some 450 people lost their jobs immediately. Some had been there for many years. Now that C. Dean Metropolis (sp?) has purchased Twinkies and others they have hired a completely new staff. They made it clear in the beginning that they would not be hiring any of the former union employees. They have now hired about 250 people and plan on a few more plus they are doing millions of dollars worth of renovation to the plant. I think this Metropolis firm is one that will completely revamp the company and make it profitable and then likely sell it for a huge profit in the years to come. It will be interesting to see how it plays out but wouldn't if be fascinating to rebuild a broke company and turn it around completely, then sell it and find another to do the same thing. I can see how someone with millions to invest could get a real kick out of this kind of work plus it benefits hundreds of people.
