United Airlines

First off, I will say my wife and I have flown with United alot and never had an issue.

But I have seen a disturbing trend since Sept, 11th in the attitude of the airline staff. They act like their word is the first, last and final say in everything. We need to travel and we need to fly, there is no other way around it for us.

My wife has been bumped, and driving back to an airport 2 1/2 hours away is not something a voucher (with restrictions) can compensate. I have been bumped quite a few times and had several planes so late I missed connections. Missing several days of a vacation, or sitting in a city and having to wait at their mercy sucks. Simply Arguing and advocating for your own rights will cost you dearly these days.

In almost all the cases an easier solution was available. Prior to Sept 11th, the airline staff listened, but not anymore.

In this case United was wrong... and the airport security guard was wrong,.. as were the two police who stood and didn't do much. Their jerk CEO is wrong and a jerk. I would imagine the first "report" he received didn't tell the whole story, just the staff's version.

But this goes deeper... WHY are the police enforcing corporate policy? This was not in any way a crime. It wasn't a public safety issue until after they reacted badly.. It was just police being corporate bouncers. Since when did we allow a fascist corporate state, on Sept 11th in the name of security.

The airline industry and TSA are well out of hand.

I couldn't agree more, Steve. I would rather eat spiders than have to fly. And it's not because I'm afraid of flying - I just don't like being treated like a brainless piece of trash. It used to be fun to fly. And I don't ever remember anyone getting unruly to the point where they had to be restrained. Today I only fly when I absolutely have no other choice. Airline industry, kiss my a$$.

I have flown quite often to DC for different legislative meetings. I quit going because of the airlines' treatment. I write or I will drive if we have to go. I refuse to pay good money to be treated and herded like cattle. It amazes me how easily manipulated and herded we allow ourselves to become.

Speaking of market cap punishment- united got killed and so did target for their fagrooms

I got wind of some naughty boys (one was my son) planning to go all over and collect porta potties and put them on the high school yard so they could have bathrooms for every kind of bathroom confusion. They were planning uncomplimentary pics for the bathrooms. I hated myself, but I had to stop everything.
