S.D.)-Mountain Lions Overstay Their Welcome

By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 03/01/2008 04:23 PM

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - State wildlife officials had to find a new home for three young mountain lions that were spending too much time around a Black Hills home.

It's believed their mother was killed in the hunting season last fall. The three kittens showed up at a Pringle home last November and started eating food meant for household pets.

The homeowner was getting a little concerned lately because the lions now weigh 80 pounds and were showing up in his yard, even lounging on his patio area.

The Game, Fish and Parks caught the three young lions and moved them to a remote area about 15 miles away. Each is wearing a radio collar so their movements can be tracked

I would have done the same, if they only hauled them 15 miles they will be back for breakfast in a day or two..... unless they find a buffet at some farmers place along the way...

Somebody should drag a bloody meat trail from "the remote area" to the patio of the Fish and Game warden. 15 miles is laughable. "A female cougar's range is between 50 and 60 miles. An adult male's range can be 150 to 200 miles" per a news article.
