Jinglebob............The saddle's looking good except for one little mistake.................................................................

You've got the brand wrong on the cantle..........doan know whose it is but it sure isn't mine.............might just as well go ahead and finish it but we'll have to discuss discounting the price! :???: PS Do you accept Canadian money??

Sure I accept Canuck money. As long as the exchange rate is all figured out correctly, ahead of time! :!:

I'm pretty sure the brand is correct as the feller who is PAYING for the saddle just got the brand and made sure I had the correct version. But for the right amount, you can have a brand new saddle with your brand on it.

By the way, I'll build one in several price ranges.

The more you pay, the more you get. But if you want affordable and low costy, I've got a model with tree, stirrups and leathers, rigging and thats all. Basic economy model.

JB......     Well I tried to avoid the waiting list!

For the right price, I'll have one for you in a couple days. Of course you might not like the style or size, but hey, I can always build another one for my son.

Had a feller call last fall and wanted one built. When I told him how long the wait was going to be, he wondered if I didn't have one on hand I could sell him. Upshot of it was, I sold him mine, for waaay to cheap, and now I'm usin' a skeleton rig, until I get this one done. Then I can build me a new one. Next time, the price will be higher.

Here is what the pattern on the stirrup leathers, or "sweat fenders" looks like. The stamping and tooling on the rest of the saddle will match with this pattern.

Well most anyone can do Basket Weave but here where your Tooling Skills Show - "Good", "Deep" and "Strong" and I like the Lifts in the patern.

I'm sure you see what I see - all goes to make a hand made saddle!

Nice Work JB :!: My Respect :!:

Thanks Old Dog.

FH, while I attempt to achieve perfection, so far it has alluded me, but I will still try to reach that point. When it's perfect, I will quite trying to make it better or trying to get better results.

I am happy with the results I've been getting, but I can still see lots of places to improve my skills.

Someone mentioned on the thread with the new poem, that they thot' I have a lot of talent. I appreciate the compliment, but I've found that talent is usually 1% natural ability and 99% sweat and effort.

But it's still nice to get a compliment. So thanks! :D

That carving looks pretty awesome to me, JB. Just how much better do you need to get?

I hope you don't think I was putting JB down - I wasn't - - As an Old Not so Good Saddle Maker/Tooler I see things other may not and as JB says "We all have room for Improvement" - - That not a Put Down :!:

Please don't read something into my Post that's not there :!:

OD/NT, I'm sorry that you took that as something totally not meant. You said "My respects" and I sure didn't mean to come across that I thought you meant something else. Nope, sure didn't.

JB was talking about being new at carving designs and it looked so good to me, I wanted to know how much better he thought it could be.

Again, sorry that I typed a post in a way that could be mistaken.
(Guess you were reading something in MY post that was not there~).

I'm pretty direct, if I have something to say I usually name the person I am directing it at. If you will look, the person this time was Jinglebob!

I just re-read it and he was giving me a compliment, in the fact that lots of people know how to run a basket stamp, but they don't drive it deep enough into the leather. Old Dog was telling me that I did and he was happy to see that I did.

This is one of the many reasons that custom work costs more than off the shelf. More time spent on producing the product.

Matbe we need to get a translator for Old Dog? :???:

I think a translator for Old Dog might be a good idea because I've noticed somtimes people take offence to what he says and they've read him wrong.....

Yea! You really do have talent.

Lifts or at least What I call lifts:

You will note that around the leafs and other places the Leather is undercut or Lifted to give the tooling a 3D look

I had a picture I took of this stirrup leather that really showed this, but I couldn't get it to load, so thot' maybe in the future I would get it on here. The lifts are what I like about the Sheridan Style. I've never noticed it in any other style before.

I came up with this flower, because it has twice as many lifts as a regular flower. The leaves are the same way.

When you whack the tool underneath and the leather comes popping up, it's like magic, the way it transform the look of the work. I just love it! Can you tell?
