USDA investigating a new case of BSE

Few details are available, but U.S. officials confirm they are investigating a possible third case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy. Dr. John Clifford with the U.S. Department of Agriculture says they are calling the case "undetermined".
He says the animal in question has been destroyed and samples are being tested for the disease. The animal was reportedly born before the U.S. ruminant to ruminant feed ban.
Comments made during a USDA teleconference broadcast on the agency's website indicate that the animal in question was a 12 year old cow that was "tagged" back in April, after having problems calving.
Statement issued by USDA Chief Veterinarian, Dr. John Clifford
