Two utility companies announced the closure of 10 aging U.S. power plants Wednesday, a move environmental groups hailed as a major victory even as critics warned it could raise the price of electricity.

"These announcements are further proof EPA has dangerously underestimated the impact of its unprecedented roll-out of rules on the reliability of the nation's electricity grid, as the announced retirements of electricity plants already exceed EPA's dubious estimate," Raulston wrote in an e-mail.

"The cost of electricity will go up — and in some places (including Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania), it will go up a lot," Holmstead wrote. "Existing coal-fired plants — even the old ones that don't run very often — play a major role in controlling costs because they keep the marginal costs down during peak periods."

The Buckwheat Bust will have 'em begging for a Bush Bust.

Might be a good thing Chevy is stopping production of the Volt. There'll be no way to charge 'em...............

our local utility just asked for another increase..

since Obama came in office.. we had a small increase the first year,.. about a $1 a month,. and then it has risen approximately by $20 a month since.. right now my average electric bill is just over $40 more then it was in 2008,.. and we have cut usage drastically, ..replaced most lights with CFLs or LED..

and now with the request to idle an older plant and buy power from other areas they are requesting a rate increase..

Hope and change Steve,

But all is well in MT

Things are sure looking up..

gas prices are up..

electric prices are up..

food prices are up...

foreclosures are up...

You need to let up on ot. Even here there is hay for 30 dollars a ton. The
only problem with it though that all the 30 dollar hay is sold out. The last bit of it sold somewhere around 1969  The reason I know it is it i remember it well loading the last load the day Teddy Kennedy killed Mary Jo

I have clued lot of ranchers neighbors of ot's into this sight, they think it is a hilarious!

Are you saying oldtimer is living in the past?? :D :D :D :D :D Or does he live near the yellow brick road on Fantasy place just past Liars Lane
