Feeding cattle this morning before we left to go to the Bull Bash in Valentine
The weather kept deteriorating as the morning progressed.
There were lots of good bulls on display all the way down Main Street.

Looking north. It was too cold to take many pictures. The temperature on the bank read about 10 degrees most of the afternoon, with a brisk breeze coming from the north.
I went into the Plains Trading Company to warm up. These nice folks recently wrote this book about Nebraska historical sights. They were autographing any books that people purchased.
Arch Ferguson conducted a colt training clinic.
Quite a few people were on hand to observe.
He made it look easy.
Within forty minutes of starting, the three-year-old was saddled and a rider was on his back.
Later in the evening, Tom Noffsinger DVM gave a cattle handling presentation.
It was very informative, and demonstrated how to outthink and handle cattle in as gentle-like fashion as possible.

There were slides and video clips of the right and wrong ways to handle cattle.
These kids didn't have TVs or computers messing with their minds. Instead they broke a calf to ride so they could rope the dog and brand it with a rake. It is a classic picture.
