Well, shoot! That's about what I've got goin' here to home, and I get a nice change of scenery. :D I can't usually fall asleep very early anyway. I'd be happy to stay up all night long and have a purpose in staying up. Calving out cattle is something I want to specialize in anyhow, so it's a win-win!

How about you intern at Soapweed's place, and then do your residency here??? The pay is the same, just different cattle and scenery :D .

Well sure!! Actually, it'd make a little more sense to head to your place first and get in a couple years at Laramie. Then, I could head on to UNL and work for Soap. Well, probly you're not real close to Laramie, but at least you're in the same state.

No, no, I'm hoping you hit Soapweed's first, so that when you get here, you can show me what you learned in Nebraska  . We both would win in that situation :D .

I'd be willing to bet we could keep you calving year round MYT. When you are done down there I will be into it up here and gcreek and then a trip down the Cowboy Trail will take you until August sometime. I am sure I heard of some September calvers, to take you into November. Take a few months off to help with PCC bull sales and rest and then start all over at Soaps. I would think we could all pay a one way ticket and room, board and entertainment. Two years of that and you would have more calving experience than most of us full timers!

Well, I have decided that at 18 years of age I'm gonna get out and work a few different operations for a while. Having so much experience with online school, I could simply take my nutrition/genetics courses online and work full time. I really like this idea per!! WR, now I see what you're gettin' at. Although I have to say, calving from Canada to Texas like per says I could, I think I'd learn the most. :D
(P.S., It's President's Day, so I'm off school and just taking a few minutes to sit down.)

Thanks for the Valentine pics, Soap and Jassy! Sturgis SD now hosts a similar event each year. I think they are attempting to copy the Valentine event. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

BMR, I went through Valentine several years ago on my way home from McCook NE. It was noon so had dinner at one of the local eateries but I can't remember the name of it. :???: Valentine impressed me as a genuine cow town in the "heart" of ranch country. :D

Giving credit where credit is due, I am pretty sure that Sturgis came up with the idea first calling it their "Key City Pen of Three Bull Display." It was Valentine who copied the basic idea and added thier own new wrinkles to make it the success that it is. I can't seem to Google the right information, but it runs in my mind that Sturgis has had their event for ten years and Valentine for eight.

Soap, you're probably correct. I admit I haven't attended the Sturgis event for several years, it's certainly been a while. When I did it was because I had other business in town to take care of.

Sturgis was a cattle only event for some time. Now they have added horses. This time of year it is fortunate when the weather cooperates. Of course in Feb there have been times the weather has been brutal for an outside show.
