Verizon merger

I noticed in the news that Verizon is merging with Alltel. This sounds good to me and will hopefully result in new services and even better coverage, possibly including more broadband Internet options to rural Montana. Technologies such as Internet and cell phones have really given a boost to those wanting to start or continue businesses in rural Montana and rural America. With this merger, I hope to see and I welcome increased broadband Internet possibilities and other increased choices in plans and services for small businesses, farmers, and ranchers in rural Montana and America.

Thats interesting- because my son just dropped Verizon because our local provider (Nemont Telephone, Sage Brush Cellular) could offer him so much more- and cheaper...

I think it will be positive in the western SD area east of the Black Hills corridor as when we were at Martin recently we did not have good service either enroute or at the rodeo grounds and a friend who had Verizon did.

Too much are out here isn't covered very well by any cell service.

You can bet in places where we have limited cell companies (namely Verizon & only Verizon), Verizon will milk every penny out of us they can, because they need to service the huge debt they have and the huge debt they're acquiring with the merger.

Verizon is just part of the Bell phone system monopoly that Reagan busted up and is steadily gaining more power.

They are what used to be Bell Atlantic. They then merged with GTE.

They will be just like ATT after the Bellsouth buyout. Bigger but not better.

Reagan would be turning over in his grave.
