Looks like the citizens had a lot of what the OWS protesters are demanding

no matter how many material things you provide or give to the people when the cost is basic freedoms, and dictatorial rule, unrest will develop..

it is not really an apples to apples comparison of a bunch of spoiled lazy drugged out homeless tent leaches with catered meals to a country where protestors are hung from light-posts..

gaddaffy may have tried to appease the people, but his brutality always overshadowed his bribery attempts..

the lesson in both is to provide Constitution freedoms and back them up with personnel responsibility.. and to give up power gracefully after your first term is completed.
