Our 4H club washed and clipped their calves this weekend-it had its ups and downs and rodeos but we got it done. Here's my Sara with her pride and joy-'Tuck'.

What a pretty thing...

The girl, not the calf  .

Calf looks great too.

I loved showing calves in 4-H, but our county only had the young calves, noone did yearlings, so that was a little different. I hope to get my son into 4-H next year, hasn't worked other years. He's nine about right to start.

Good luck with the calves, do your shows happen in late august like ours or are they coming up soon?

Take Care

When is show and sale weekend? Be sure to let us how the prices went.

Tell her from this old fat fart - "Nice looking animal she should be proud of her work and her accomplishments."

If she cries when it goes down the road - remind her there will be a big fat cheque coming to her from the buyer!! :D

Best regards,

B.C.

These other kids have huge goats compared to Lil Lilly's. Previous years she's had bigguns...and she opted this year to start with one that had just been weaned. Was a job holdin em and clippin em.

Rub a Dub Dub-many hands make light work. By the time the kids get done even the wild calves are pretty settled.
I'm impressed with this, going to mention it to local 4-H leader. We have mini-achievment day but your sure right I can see how this would calm the calves,Thanks...you learn somthing new all the time!!

Last year nothin placed but the ice cream (grand champion) LOL and the judges ate it ALL!!! we didn't get ANY!!! This year there's gonna be several ice cream makers goin....they can taste the entry ones but they aint gittin it all. Waited all day for ice cream in hundred degree weather, then zip!!

It isn't wash and clip if everybody doesn't get washed-including my Emily-doesn't look like she minded too much.

I have to admit I read all of this post with a big smile. I remember how it was with my two girls when they were in 4H - they enjoyed it in a big way.

I have to admit us parent types did as well.

This is the type of post I like to see - my girls were mentioning they would like to have been at the "scrubbing" - if only to help and have a couple of laughs.

Best to you and yours,

B.C.

Great lookin critters!!!!!!!!

We'll be having our Project Tour (where we go from member to member's homes, and see their project animals) about mid-June. Our fair isn't until the end of August, so we have a lot of time to prepare!

Need to get Al's cow, her new bull calf, and her yearling heifer, to the house, so he can show them all off, in addition to his horses and pigs.

We show june 6th and 7th-here's Ty's two calves waiting for the pressure washer.

I see you got that "special' breaking halter on the RWF! MCG needs to get with the program, her steer is well over 1,000 lbs, and she needs to halter break him. Thanks for the info on that halter, it works like a CHARM!!! So breaking 1100 + size steers isn't so stressful anymore

The next biggest in the family is 11, and 85 lbs. lol. I think i'll be hauling s few more big a$$ steers for him yet. lol.
