I need you to knock on doors, talk to neighbors, spread the facts and speak the truth," he told religious leaders and reporters on a conference call that was streamed over the Web at faithforhealth.org.

"This debate over health care goes to the heart of who we are as a people," he said. "I believe that nobody in America should be denied basic health care because he or she lacks health insurance."

Some 140,000 people participated in the call, the coalition of more than 30 faith-based groups that organized the event said in a written statement.

Obama urged the listeners to reject misinformation about his plans, noting, "There are some folks out there who are, frankly, bearing false witness."

The president is using blatant religious language to rally members of the clergy to help push his health-care policy. Furthermore, the "bearing false witness" is language traditionally reserved for issues of major import: Not telling the truth with respect to a crime or sin committed, for example. Using the phrase as a club against those -- like the president -- who are engaged in a political battle -- arguably cheapens it.

Obama got even more in a religious mode later, telling rabbis:

"We are God's partners in matters of life and death," Obama said, according to Moline (paging Sarah Palin...), quoting from the Rosh Hashanah prayer that says that in the holiday period, it is decided "who shall live and who shall die."

I don't like Presidents invoking God at anytime.

But you have to admit that claiming Obama's healthcare reform bill including provisions for death panels euthanizing Down's syndrome children is about as false as you can get.

Isn't this false info?? I thought it was illegal for hospitals to deny care!

found it:

Can a hospital/nursing home refuse medical care to emergency cases? No. can refused of medical care to injury and emergency cases constitute negligence? Yes.

The reason for the above two answers is the same. Although a doctor is free to choose whom he will serve, his liberty does not extend to accident, injury and emergency cases. As per law, hospitals, nursing homes and clinics of doctors, that declare, or profess, in writing that they provide emergency sevices/24 hour services are legally bound to attend all the cases . Failure to have the requisite equipment in working order and non-availability of competent staff within reasonable time would be inferred as medical negligence.

There are thousands upon thousands of people who have to make the choice between seeking healthcare or not going bankrupt.

Essentially that means they are denied healthcare.

You're right.

I should have said "plan".

And I'm annoyed that he isn't giving more specifics, other than to defend some general aspects of some of the proposed bills.

He was elected to lead and that is what he needs to do.

Just recently, I made had to make the choice between a new Big Dog motorcycle or not going bankrupt. I guess that means I was denied a motorcycle.

They have a choice- their NOT being denied-
so now how about obama bearing false witness, spreading false information, fearmongering, ie: lying???

Lots of ways to get health care if you want, change jobs to one that provides or get a high deductible that covers the big stuff and save for the small stuff. Or get a better job to pay for it or get a second job to pay for it. Health Care is not guaranteed in the constitution, sometime we have to work for what we want or need, and some times we have to sacrifice for it!

Ps. I am all for helping those that get denied coverage due to pre existing conditions, other than that personal responsibility is the key! I did it and I am a lowly Janitor so can others!

If you think buying a toy is a good analogy for choices about healthcare, then there is no point in arguing with me.

You really make me smile sometimes, reminds me of the Class clown back in school he was always good for a laugh to make the day seem shorter!

Unlike you I am not sexist I do not force my wife to do anything! She loved going to college something her family did not support her in doing mostly because her father was a sexist like you that felt a womans place was in the kitchen and not in college.

The world needs ditch diggers and I supply ditch diggers with jobs, sadly ditch diggers do not always get provided health care. Now if they chose to go to a competitor that starts people at minimum wage and will let them eventually get health insurance they have that choice. Or they can work for me and start out $3.00 above minimum wage and never get health insurance. They have free choice!

Employee provided insurance is a perk to get good employees, I chose not to provide that perk and I deal with a lot of toads vs princes but that is what makes the free market so wonderful! Freedom of choice! To bad the queen does not allow you guys such freedoms!

The Messiah AKA God's Partner
Lauri Regan

Barack Obama’s egocentric personality never ceases to amaze me; however, he outdid himself today. On a teleconference with some American rabbis, Obama reportedly said,

“We are God’s partners in matters of life and death.”

Talk about hubris, audacity, arrogance, and chutzpah. While on the campaign trail last year, Obama placed a note in the Western Wall in which he asked God to “…make me an instrument of your will.”

Who knew that God not only heard Obama's prayer, but God answered the prayer by elevating Obama to that of His partner in matters of life and death. If voters were scared of Obamacare before today, they’ll be running for the hills after hearing this latest pronouncement from the One – which bears repeating: “We are God’s partners in matters of life and death.”

Update: Rosslyn Smith adds:

Forget about the ACLU. I suspect that someday Obama will be answering to a higher authority over this comment.

I was taught that we are God's servants here on earth. I would never presume to be on an equal footing with the Almighty.
