Ranchers.net

We have been a bit on the busy side this week so I apologize for not responding to alot of posts, have had a little time to read some things but not much time to post replies  Besides the 4th of July, with the Cattlewomen booth, still trying to hay, check wells, fix fence, the usual stuff, we hosted two chaps from bloody old England for the week. They are farmers, dairymen and beef men from UK that wanted to experience Montana ranching. We did our best to show them our life, fixed fence, checked wells, chased cows on horses, fixed a stock tank, shot gophers, sat on the porch with a cold one and compared notes. They do things way different over there, but ranchers are ranchers, they are just more gentlemanly than I. They have a website, www.townsendfarm.co.uk that explains their operation, they sell all of their beef, some pork, some lamb, milk and cheese, and a whole lot of veggies that they raise, through their store. Made for some very interesting conversation. MCG took them hunting while I baled, and Hanta Yo and her took them down to the Custer Battlefield that they wanted to see. Here you go.

Getting all saddled up and ready to ride off into the midday sun, wasn't exactly early, but it was not too hot yet

This game chap had never been on a horse and we took him into a 3 section pasture that is not anywhere near being flat, Willie the Indian horse took good care of him and his first experience with the roundup was a smashing hit.

Hanta Yo had frozen water bottles in the truck for us, 90 degrees is hard on people who never see it that hot, that water is a good thing

ON to the battlefield, can't forget about the horses involved

Old yellow hair himself

The crew on a walkabout, minus the hay crew

Looking down towards the Little BigHorn, the sight of the most intense part of the battle.

I think that alot of this sentiment is still alive today

Time for goodbyes and cheerios, they are off to Calgary and the Stampede

These two are our first guests since we joined up with www.montanaworkingranches.com this is an amazing project
