“the road to Damascus is a road to peace.” Nancy Pelosi, Congressional Record, 2007

“Assad is a man of his word who has been very generous with me. Under Assad, Syria will move; Syria will change as it embraces a legitimate relationship with the United States.” John Kerry, Democratic Senator for Massachusetts, March 16, 2011.

In a March 2011 interview, Hillary Clinton implied that Assad was a “reformer.”

In 2007, Nancy Pelosi, over strong objections from the State Department, visited Syria, and said, “The road to Damascus is a road to peace.”

Senator John Kerry predicted that “Syria will change as it embraces a legitimate relationship with the United States.”

Representative Tom Lantos (D., Calif.), who accompanied Pelosi on her trip, doubled down on the significance of the Pelosi-Assad meeting: “This is only the beginning of our constructive dialogue with Syria, and we hope to build on this visit.”

maybe they could go over as a peace delegation and see if they can work things out...

smalltime said:
What's wrong with Assad? He's just killing the people we would kill if we were there.

while I am sure you are trying to be sarcastic ,...

dictatorships have never been right.. and killing your own people for disagreeing with you should never be tolerated..

with that said.. I posted the comments to show how misguided liberals are,.. and how bad their judgement is..

and if the media had any credibility they would have reported on this ...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama has signed a secret order authorizing U.S. support for rebels seeking to depose Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government, U.S. sources familiar with the matter said.

(LRC) - Christians are being systematically targeted for genocide in Syria according to Vatican and other sources with contacts on the ground among the besieged Christian community. According to reports by the Vatican's Fides News Agency collected by the Centre for the Study of Interventionism, the US-backed Free Syrian Army rebels and ever more radical spin-off factions are sacking Christian churches, shooting Christians dead in the street, broadcasting ultimatums that all Christians must be cleansed from the rebel-held villages, and even shooting priests....

dictators often hold power in several ways but the most important key to holding the power is providing security, safety and stability to population in general

as long as the public in general feels safe,. generally they will not seek instability is the rational.. but as with many dictators they can't seem to stop being oppressive, in providing that safety and stability..

and now radical islam is rearing it's head and taking advantage of instability .. soon it will squash all dissent and it's leaders will be the new dictators of the middle east.. (just like in Iran)
