Oh yes we get them, for sure in Alberta. Last bad one we had was July 2000,nine killed and 130 people injured at a campground. But we often see funnel clouds.

Here its hot- hot -hot and dry... 92 degrees with 14% humidity and 20-30 mph winds this afternoon... They issued a red flag warning for fire danger today....

Apparently several fires today in the hay fields- probably sparks from sickle or something hitting a rock....Partner quit baling by 10AM- just too dry--I got all the bales we had baled hauled in and stacked by 1PM- then shut things down...

We had a whopper of a storm go through this evening, with close on to two inches of rain, pea to grape size hail. It was pretty deafening in the cabin, as it has a tin roof over boards and no insulation. I wondered for a while about joining the dogs under the bed!

It was 92F here the yesterday and the day before. First time I ever baled dry hay the same day I cut it. 'Course, that does tell you a bit about how heavy my crop is :?

Well- Some of our fire danger is being taken care of...Little thunderstorm going thru right now- putting down a nice little shower...Doubt if it amounts to much...I was going to head out and start riding a 16 section pasture early this morning to make sure bulls are in the right places- but I think with the lightning I may put that off a while.....I don't like playing in lightning...

They're predicting 96 today- and maybe some heavier storms this afternoon....

Its hard to tell what our weather is going to be like today...its sooo smokey here. They have evacuated the town of Nordegg, about three hours from us,lots of forest in that area. No rain yet though :?

The Canso water bomber base is only two miles from me so it sounds like the Battle of Britain during fire season. You don't want to get caught sitting in a bar when there's a big fire-you might end up on a fire line. Nothing scarioer than a jackpine fire when it crowns-scary stuff. Lots of lightning last night so sure there's a moose pasture somewhere getting burnt up.
