Wedding ceremony in cowpasture catherdral

My cousin’s son married another rancher’s daughter last Saturday evening in her parents’ pasture down in a beautiful cedar
canyon north of Wall, SD.

We came attired in cowpasture chic! Note the posh seats - sturdy planks laid across good wheatgrass bales.

The bride, who is right at home on the range, is escorted to the altar by her rancher father.

The exchange of vows under an overcast sky.
Storm clouds were building off to the west, but here there was no wind and the slightly cloudy sky made the temperature
very comfortable.

It’s a done deal. No backing out now!!
The guy with the suspenders sitting in front of me is our neighbor, the father-in-law of another of my cousins, and also the
father of American Sheep Industry’s executive director, Peter Orwick

Up, up and away.
Those assembled released thousands of balloons into the wild blue yonder in celebration before driving the ten miles or so
into Wall for the reception at the community center.
It was a great day and these kids make a great couple. I’m betting this is one marriage that will still be going strong
until death parts them.

I love the outside weddings... I did one a week ago at the most beautiful outcropping hill overlooking the Missouri River...Wish I had got pictures, but was too busy marrying them...I have another outdoor one scheduled in Sept- another ranch family....

Liberty Belle-- You sound like you are in a situation like I am- everywhere you look there is more cousins...Except thats kind of how a lot of little communities are- never want to say something bad about someone, because you're probably talking to a relative or inlaw.....

What a way to go!!!! Nothing better than to have God AND mother nature giving you their blessings for a happy and prosperous future!!

A friend of mine was married in similar fashion almost a year ago!! Outdoors, on a hillside, haybales for seats and a horsedrawn carriage bringing in the bride!! The father of the bride MADE the couple their wedding bed and set it in a wall tent for the honeymoon!! Alot of effort went into the affair on part of the bride's parents, but it was so very well worth it!! :D :D

Your pictures reminded me a lot, of our neice's wedding last summer/fall (can't remember which, it was just as the seasons turned on Sept. 24)........His dad (our Bishop at the time) officiated over the ceremony, all the guys were dressed in western attire, our neice wore white flip flops with flowers on them......

Here's a few pics from it, mostly the ones yours reminded me of. Sorry for the lack of quality, my camera was acting wierd back then, seems to work fine with the new memory card, though........most of the time, anyway. :D

Waiting for the ceremony to begin:

Bridesmaids were Tami's cousin on her mom's side of the family, then Chase's two sisters.......then Tami and Chase, Chase's dad, Chase's best man, aka his best friend, Chase's brother, and finally, Tami's brother.

Yup. I've got more relatives than I can count. Both my husband and I came from large families and we are either related to everyone in our community or are related to their relatives. I always figured that gives me the right to say anything I want to about anyone because they are all relatives in some sort of way.

Truth be told though, there isn't a whole lot bad to say about the folks around here, whether relatives or not. This is the nicest place on earth to live and raise your family, but then I might be just a little prejudiced.
