White House Explains Obama 'Wee-Weed Up' Comment
Friday, August 21, 2009 5:10 PM
President Barack Obama puzzled people when he said Washington "gets all wee-weed up." The White House offered a translation Friday: Folks are wetting the bed over the healthcare debate.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs was asked during his daily on-camera briefing what Obama meant on Thursday when he decried the way his push for an ambitious healthcare overhaul had been played in the media.
"There's something about August going into September where everybody in Washington gets all wee-weed up," Obama told an audience at the Democratic National Committee headquarters. "I don't know what it is. But that's what happens."
The "wee-weed" comment had reporters looking for a translation from Gibbs, who is from Alabama and known for his colorful Southern idioms.
"Let's do this in a way that is family-friendly. I think wee-weed up is when people just get all nervous for no particular reason," Gibbs said. "Bed-wetting would be probably the more consumer-friendly term."
Twister Frost said:"Wee-weed up" does not translate to wetting the bed. If it's "up" it can't be "down." So it does not even translate to "peeing down the leg." How disgusting that the holder of the highest position in the US would resort to such baseless and tasteless language. If he had not already alienated me with so many of his positions and problems--this would have worked for me. He is not Joe the Plumber--that is not how he connects with Americans. My personal thought was that he obviously thinks those who do not agree with him are uneducated and need to be talked to like two year olds. I'd suggest he or his speech writer/teleprompter typer consult Roget's Thesaurus next time.

And the race baiting continues. You've done it so many times, I'll bet you've risen to the rank of masterbaiter.
Faster horses said:Nope. No excuse for McCain.
But may I remind you, OT, HE IS NOT THE PRESIDENT OF THE
UNITED STATES?
Gee, you seem to think two wrongs make a right.
Does Obama not have to take responsibility for what he says?
(boy, was asking you that, ever a foolish question.)
I think you missed my point---the language is unacceptable. Use what is appropriate for your level--Did I approve of McCain--NO---And I do not think your reply to me has anything to do with the words that he used. I do not care for Obama, but he is there for four years. I think I have the right to expect that he will live up to at least some of his campaign promises--and I don't recall one of them being degenerating the English language.Oldtimer said:Twister Frost said:"Wee-weed up" does not translate to wetting the bed. You preferred McCain who told Senator Cornyn "F*** You" right in the Senate-- and called his wife a "c**t" in front of several people :???:

I say "P*ss down their leg"-- like the rightwing listening to the rightwingernuts fearmongering spokesman are doing....
Say it whatever way you want to- its whats happening....
How much was your Depends bill last month Sandhusker :???:
Again--I just feel that the position demands some formality--If I would have been old enough during Nixon and LBJ and the Internet would have been here and I would have been cognizant of politics--I would hope I would have had the same opinion. Doesn't matter if it is a Republican or Democrat---We could probably have quite a thread of all the illiterate statements, words, and spellings that come from our Presidents--if we don't say we don't like it--doesn't that say that we're okay with it?Oldtimer said:Sandhusker said:I've used the term before to describe urination as; "I've got to go wee-wee". Okay Twister, let's assume that we agree with you. Is the President a human being or not? Will he be careless with his language at times or make mistakes? What I want to know is why if he so much as yawns some members of PB seize upon that and go on and on. They have done so since before he was inaugurated and it's apparent that they loathe him and never gave him a chance.
Let's all agree that we do not think it is fitting for our elected officials to curse or use inappropriate language. And let's agree that it happens and that very few of them are above reproach.
And that's enough on that topic frankly. Move on.
