Started Paintin. This is the finished Table.

I like doin stuff like this, have a few pieces here in the house that I done. Brings new life to a yucky lil piece of wood. If it's somethin that's a "real antique" I'd never put paint on it, I've stripped too many antiques and grumbled the whole time. But simple lil pieces like this, that are picked up here and there, that have no sentimental value, it's fun to paint them.

Great job! Did you put a finish over all the paint when you were done and what kind? Do you free hand the painting or stencil? Let us know what your friend thought of it. Send it my way!

Two coats of paint, then the faux layer if that's what you wanna call it (the rag affect) then I traced a real horseshoe, and painted it, then drew the M in the middle and painted it. The barbwire is freehanded, and the stars on the front, drew them on then painted them as well. After all the paint is dry, I put 2 layers of polyurethane on the top and the drawer front, 1 coat on the rest.
She loved it, took it to her this evenin, and then she asked me......."if I find other pieces I like...will you paint them for me?"

It's really fun doin this kinda thing, and cheap too!!!! Paint doesn't cost much of anything, a gallon goes a longgggggggggggg ways. (I've been usin the same gallon of base coat and same qt of the dark brown for 2 or 3 years.)I need to come up with a different color scheme or somethin, try somethin a lil different the next time. The lil table cost me $15 at a yard sale. I wanted to find some special knobs for it, but the only ones I seen that I liked....you had to order them and they cost 12.99 each. I didnt wanna wait for them to come in, and that's a bit pricey for knobs. So I just went with what was on it already.
Mr Lilly never knows what I may be draggin into the kitchen next to paint. At one time I had a headboard, foot board, two night stands, and a book case all in there that I was paintin. I sand it all outside, the dust from sandin the finish off is horrible.

That is one good looking piece of furniture, Lily. You do great work. Very professional. Isn't it so satisfying to renovate and recycle?

Looks like your next project is getting the weeds out from between those bricks! I have a brick walk I'm tired of weeding and thinking about brushing in the concrete powder between the bricks. Then supposedly you just wet down gently with a hose and it turns to cement that weeds won't penetrate. I've never used that but it almost sounds too easy. Anyone try it? I probably should have started a new thread for this

I was visiting some people that I used to get horse from. Using their computer and I couldn't get it to load. They had some neat Texas star ones that would have been cool too.

nr LOL I didnt realize until I took the photo and got it onto the computer that the grass had gotten so bad between the bricks. Usually I end up on my hands n knees with a pair of gloves pullin it out by hand. If I'd known when I laid those bricks how bad the grass would be I'd have poured a sidewalk and then put the bricks on top of it, but oh well. Live and learn.....
I've never heard of what your talkin bout, I'm wonderin if you hafta do it with newly laid brick or if you can do it with already laid...???

My understanding was you sweep it between the laid bricks and tamp it in with maybe a small piece of plywood. Sweep again to get it off the surface of the bricks then gently spray and keep off a few days. Sounds too good to be true but I might try it...when things cool down.

Yeap it is that easy. Had a walk of river rocks in Charlotte have to redo about every 5-6 years if you use the walk every day and get alot of rain.
Last time I added more I used the grey mix, blended right in. They have grey & black & red & sand color mix.
Make sure if you dont have a edge you make one, you want the mix to surround the bricks or rocks.
