Are you talking about dogs? I'm pretty sure Border Collie is the only kind of dog there is......

Nope, sorry, Belgian Shepherd (Tervuren) here. :D

If you're heading to SK, better tie a string on his hind legs so you don't lose him down the gopher holes.

Only two Border Collies here.

When I lived in Florida the ald man who lived behindus had some weiner dogs, they hated cats. We always thought he was grumpy always yelling at us to keep our cats away from his dogs, only recently did I find out it was a big lie, he and My Grandad were realy good friends, he was just always jokin.

I have two Wieners!!!! :p Fixin to be the foster mom of another one until Shoer can come get his puppy.

(How am I gonna be a foster mom and then not bawl like a baby when it's time for him to leave????) Hey....I know......I could slip Wilbur in the doggie box.....and keep the puppy....wonder how far down the road he'd get before he realized he had a pig???

Oops...my male wieners name is Wrangler (he's a black n tan double dapple )..female is Rocky (she's a black n tan)....and the newest one......Shoer named him Cinch(black n tan) ....but I have a feelin he's gonna call him "Muttly" least that's what he keeps callin him when he asks about him.

  he's not a Muttly

I also have a Border Collie named "Sophie" and a Blue Heeler named "Cowboy"

You guys are correct, weiners are not dogs. They are very short children in dog suits! Bad to the bone they is, no more rediculas breed of dog on the planet. The dobermans won't even look at them, they think that they are simply not civilized enough!

"The dobermans won't even look at them"

Hahaha :lol2: :lol2: That reminded me of somethin that happened when we went to Louisiana in December to a 3 day barrel race.
Took the wieners with us. And had them on leashes walkin around thru the booths of stuff...Lots of folks had brought their dogs....there was a woman that had a dog ( I have no idea what kind it was ) looked like it had ran into a brick wall....eyes bugged out......long hair.....fuzzy kinda....tan and white......long bushy tail.....on one of those retractable leashes that's about 20 ft long. Well....that dog apparently just LOVED my wieners  ....he kept comin up to them wantin to play....My weiners both of em said NO WAY....MOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM what is that????? while all the time scoochin and tryin to get away from IT.....it was rather an ugly dog....but I"m sure it's owner thought it was a beaut.

Jigger is that a picture of your dog in your avatar? Do they herd cattle? Any other info you can give me? We have one border left and will probably get another soon. Looking for a smoother haired one but am interested in other herding dogs.

Yes thats my Terv in the avitar when she was a puppy, and yes, they are definately a herding dog!, they herd everything!! I don't know why you don't see more of them used for that. :???:
There is quite a bit of info on them on the internet.
I find them to be an excellent dog for family and stock and they'e a lot of fun and really quite characters. I really like them alot and will definately be getting another when the time comes. :D
If you're interested in them, read and learn as much as you can about the breed and talk to breeders.
There is also the Groenendael which are all black, the Malinois, which look like a terv but have short hair (they seem to be used more for police and military work)
Here is a little of what they are like (I 'borrowed" it from the American Belgian Tervuren club site...)

"The breed is known for its loyalty and protectiveness. Their appearance projects alertness and elegance. Those who own them are completely charmed by their intelligence, trainability, and, perhaps most of all, their sense of humor. They are suited to many kinds of activities.

In AKC sponsored events they display their beauty, obedience, rally, agility, tracking, and herding abilities. In other venues, they save lives in search and rescue, guard and protect in the police and military, compete in flyball, pull sleds and carts, comfort in therapy and service, and entertain on TV and in films.

We are proud of the number of conformation Champions that hold one or more performance titles. The first AKC Herding Championship by any breed was earned by a Tervuren"

Thanks great pics. I found a breed site and checked them out. All four types look good. The Malinois looks like the easiest to keep clean of burs and spear grass.. I don't think would be many breeders in southern Sask.

Actually I know of a Terv breeder near Saskatoon which has the most reasonable prices I've found so far. I can give you his name and number if you want. I'll see what I can find for Malinois breeders there. With a Malinois you are looking at a much different temperment than a Terv.
My Terv isn't that bad to keep clean at all. A gooming maybe once a week will do it. Mine is lucky to see a brush once a month
