No snow yet- but the temp is down to 38 degrees- and its still drizzling like it did most of the day....Not much precip- probably not more than .2 so far....

Ironically tonight is the night of the local catfish derby- with 60 teams of 120 guys and gals freezing their rear ends off at the river fishing...Bet there isn't much cold beer being drank tonight
Talked to my son on the cell phone awhile ago- and he and his partner hadn't caught any- in a spot that last week they caught a dozen in an hour...
SIL and his buddy did have a few- with one nice 4 or 5 lber....
They still have a couple of hours fishing left- but it doesn't sound like either will be bringing home the big money....

COLD and just a little mist. Daughter and i branded a few calves today. Got wet sorting pairs then it quit raining until we thought we might saddle up and bring in another 10. Turned the cows back out and will try another day. We are catching up with only a few cows left to calve. The end is in sight. :)

It was about this time in June a few years back when people had baled hay in the I-90 right of way between Okaton and Cactus Flat, and one morning, there was a couple inches of snow on those bales.

After a phone call, I drove my grandgirls, then living in TX but visiting me for part of the summer, over there to see, and play in, the snow.

Might happen again. Not sure there is any baled hay in our area yet, but it was only 42% here this morning, and we got .27" of rain overnight. Some mist and fog off and on today, but we need REAL rain to stave off a drought here, and we need it NOW! A week or so of very cool weather has helped some, but it is very dry for growing grass, let alone hay, either prairie or planted varieties.

Still dryer than a popcorn phart here. Temp at 8:30 PM was still 80 F. Forecasters say we could get some rain early in the week.

Oldtimer---trying desperately to send this WHITE stuff your way!! Today is my friday and would really like my days off to be nice, but.....not looking very promising!! Snowing pretty good here, but nothing really sticking except in the foothills and mountains...they are getting pretty well dumped on!! Hmmmmmm....just hope that this crazy weather settles itself down by the 26th when we are having our American Cancer Society Relay for Life....16 straight hours of walking around the football field will be pretty miserable if it is done in the snow!! hahaha!

Rain has quit here...We ended up with .2- just enough to make mud...Temp is 40 degrees now- but it didn't freeze last night...Whole week is supposed to be cool with chance of showers...

In fact I was looking at some of the long range forecasts- and they're predicting the whole month is supposed to be cool with good chances of showers and rain spells- with highs in the 70's and low 80's... Grass loves it- alfalfa would like a little warmer- but it sure beats what I remember back in 1988 when it was 102 the end of May- and up to 108 the first week of June  ... I don't ever want to see another one of those years...

Pretty close, it was the 4th of June. I had windrows with snow on them. I thought it was funny until I went over to the wheat field that was headed out and saw it laying flat on the ground with the heads covered in ice  We had 28 that morning![/quote]

We ended up with 1.32 here, it rained all day Saturday and all day Sunday. We needed it because things were starting to look a little tough. It snowed a little Saturday just enough to stick to the pickup windows but it didn't get below freezing.

I'm like you, I don't want to repeat anything like 1988.
