Yesterday marked 3 weeks that the laptop has been gone. Geek Squad with Best buy sent it off to Kentucky to the Toshiba place for a new harddrive, and a hinge.
Geek squad called this evenin, sayin that they got it back today, and that something wasn't fixed on it (Mr Lilly answered the phone) no idea what it was that wasn't fixed, but they overnighted it back to Kentucky for further repairs.
The brand Toshiba I have no problems with. They've stood behind their warranty well enough. But....I"d advise never to buy anything from Best Buy EVER....cuz if somethin goes wrong you hafta deal with the Geek Squad, and as far as I can tell...the two times I've had to deal with them.....they don't know didly squat about a computer.
I sure will be glad to get it back (repaired) so that I can download all the pictures off my camera onto it. Camera is gonna hafta go on Jenny Craig diet if they don't hurry up LOL

Well that's not good news...I've missed your pictures! I totally agree about the geek squad..I didn't have good luck with them either. Best Buy wouldn't honor the repair work either. It's gettin to the point that everyone sells electronics, but no one wants to work on em..they just want you to chuck it and buy new! And they wonder why we have so much waste in the world!...

Hope you get it back soon Lilly! I'm sure you've got green grass to show off!..lol

MCG purchased her first ever digital camera from Best Buy last June. It died about a month ago, the button to turn it on sticks. MCG was under the impression it was still under warranty. Took it to Best Buy "Geek Squad" they looked up and NOPE only 90 day warranty on that camera. It will cost the price of the *&^%#%&** camera to fix it. I wanted to make them feel guilty cuz they were screwing a 14 year old but they wouldn't care.

Not the first time I've had to take something back in brand new cuz it didn't work.

Never again, Best Buy. I'll go somewhere where backing up the product is important.

BTW, her camera and sw's camera (which also died, the lense won't go out-$350.00 camera) are both Hewlitt Packard. Don't suggest ever purchasing anything from them again...sw talked to a camera repairman and he said it is impossible to get parts for HP cameras unless he already has a dead one and can steal parts :?

Must be all that China made stuff  :(  ...I have a 48" OB chain that I've had for a couple years without using- needed it the other day on that simmi heifer...Kid was pulling, just by hand- had a loop and a half hitch on the leg, and it broke... Just about dumped him on his butt...

I know they won't do anything, but the next time I'm in town the Vet clinic that I bought it at is sure going to hear about it.......

Mr. nr couldnt get softwear to work between his HP computer and network- he spent literally days on the phone to India and Far East help lines- ended up saying forget it to HP and mailed them back their computer. They weren't too happy about it but realized they couldn't fix the problem.

About cameras breaking down...I don't remember my little Brownie with hand cranked film ever breaking down in all the years I dragged it on hikes and camping. Too bad these prima donna cameras aren't built as tough.

In all honesty, I bought my little pocket-sized camera at Best Buy in June of 2005. It's been drug along for quite a few miles since then, and has been used to take quite a pile of pictures with little or no trouble. If it conked out tomorrow, I've probably still gotten my money's worth out of it.

Ok...so maybe my gripe isn't with the store name of Best Buy...it's with their Service Dept, which is the Geek Squad. . Just aggrivates me to no end, that they advertise them, and make it sound like they can fix any problem you might have with a computer, whether or not you bought it there. In reality...all they are, are Geeks with boxes and shippin tape ready to send your stuff off to who knows where to get fixed LOL

My camera was bought in 2005 also. I went camera shoppin, found the one I wanted, then got online, and found it for almost a $100 cheaper online, and ordered it. And it's been everywhere with me since then.
