Sorry dear, hunting requires guns, I know that you could get a bigger one with the help of a .22, that one was just hatched and you stole it from its mommy. Can't wait for the toads to hatch, just what we need, another 500 pets in the house, but you get to feed and water them.

At least she is bringing home more animals instead of boys. BTW, the phone kept ringing today and depending upon who answered, someone may be on the other end or NOT. I was cleaning the shop of all things (I hate that) and tried to answer the phone but nobody was on the other end so I quit running across the shop to answer nothing, wonder who that could have been? :???:

MCG had a friend spend the night last night, she likes to plan "fun activities" for her town friends. They went to the fish pond, sw didn't think they would catch an adult turtle (they get REALLY BIG BTW and ARE VERY HARD TO CATCH) but she did get a young 'un. She didn't mention, though, the toads that were mating and laying eggs in the water. She saw a toad, thought it would be great to have a couple in the garden. She picked one up and "there was another one underneath it!". She brought BOTH PAIRS OF MATING TOADS home, in 5 gallon buckets. We discovered when they are done, the male makes a godawful noise (sounds like a very sick bird) . So she has all the eggs in a glass fish bowl, and let the toads loose in the garden. We were wondering how long those dang toads were going to mate...when she brought them home it took them ALL DAY! The beauty of living on a ranch or farm is you learn all kinds of sex ed! Wouldn't trade it for the world......

This also brings up a sore topic about "catching" wildlife and bringing them home. Marine son, many years ago, we had an abundance of chipmunks. They took all the corn from our corn bin and put it in the holes where the gate latch went into the posts, put it into the heater vents of the ranch trucks, etc etc. I'll tell you, it took a day to get the corn out of the vents of the trucks. I just couldn't believe how fast they refilled the vents!!!!!! WELLLLLL, Marine son caught a chipmunk, thought it would be cool to put it in a "cage" we had. Now, don't forget this is ALL AGAINST MY WISHES! I had just purchased a new sectional couch that week. He brought the chipmunk into the house, it got out, made a burrow in my NEW SECTIONAL COUCH I JUST BOUGHT. Every morning for a number of mornings the little p**** would be in the windowsill, "chang chang chang chang" is the noise it would make, they finally caught the little bugger and got him out of the house but I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Pi**ed that sw actually sewed the hole in MY NEW COUCH with his own hands. I think I like turtles sooooo much better. Chipmunks are BURROWING animals and they will definitely BURROW in your FURNITURE.

I just hope no one will bring home a baby BADGER!!!!

V_Key found this very frog in our creek

http://www.biologicaldiversity.org/swcbd/species/rlfrog/

We had it at home for months - in the spring it turned RED - "What the Heck?"

Stuied at the Steinhart Aquram proved it to be the largest Red Legged Frog they had ever seen. -- - 6.3" across

Be cause of EPA - We told them that it had come in with some plants from N.Ca. - and they went wild looking for it up there.

Now that the land is a County Park and NO ONE wants to know that she found it there.

The frog is at the Coyote Point Mus. now and we heard that they have cloned it.
