Beautiful day in the Big Muddy. It must have been 45*F . Fed the calves and bulls. Hauled Bossy Bloomer to the cows up north and even scraped some off the bunk pad. Don't usually get to do that in January as even if it gets nice it doesn't usually stay warm long enough to soften the pack .I don't think it even froze very hard last night.

The kid was out- so I got him to help me hang some new gates that I've been working on getting ready....I can get all the holes drilled and everything lined up--but those long panels and gates sure are easier to handle if you have 2 people....

In the low 50's here today...Pretty nice with a little breeze--supposed to cool down and only be in the 30's and 40's for the next week...

But anytime you can say only the 30's and 40's in January in Montana- it still makes you smile :D

We hit 46 degrees today! We ran a lot of water (snow melt). It looks like the fields are about 75% bare. However the feedlots are still in pretty good shape. We are supposed to be just above freezing over the weekend and receive some rain. The country roads are certainly very soft as the frost seems to go out of them quickly if they are bare and sun shines on them. Makes for a muddy mess! The cattle have their bloom back after a month of severe weather. Felt like March today!!

We've had close to a foot of snow in the last 48 hours, and its still coming down. It has been warm though, around 35 yesterday, and we don't get a lot of wind, so it could be a lot worse

Yeap HayMaker...we've had a nice couple days. Was in the 70's yesterday, I finished up mowin the place I was on. Then this afternoon we cleaned off all the yuck off the shredder fueled up and moved the tractor on to the next place. I"m ready to go somemore in the mornin. This place is right at 1000 acres.....don't know how long I'll be there....it has alot of bottom land on it, so I'll hit that first while it's dry enuff.

I aint makin no guarantees at this point LOL But.....I think I'll hafta be done.....cuz the tractor I'm usin is the one they use to pull their baler. LOL their ranchhand that bales for them was really worried when they told him we were hookin "his" tractor up to a shredder. But I told him I'd take real good care of it. If it weren't for the radio in that thing I don't think I could stay in it all day long like I do. He gave me the key, and said, "Be sure you take the key out, so no one else can drive it" So...every time I git out...the key leaves with me.

The guy I'm mowin for said today....."Are you sure you don't want a payday today?" I told him, "No......the longer I go without a payday, the closer I'll be to havin enuff money to buy a new camera" LOL If I aint got it, I can't spend it. If the weather holds I should be able to buy a really nice camera in a weeks time.
