What A Day

Had a rather interesting day yesterday.
Had to take my daughter to Helena to a dentist that specializes in children, she hates the dentist. I knew the canyon was not going to be very good going I just didn't expect it to be THAT bad.
Passing lane on the left was ice and snow and if you had someone in front of you it was a complete white out.
I ended up behind another car who I could see once in awhile, so I just followed them.
At Wolf Creek I didn't even see the merge lane on my right, nor did I see the snow plow as he came on the interstate. Missed him, but my heart rate went sky high. If I had hit my brakes or jerked the wheel I know we would have gone into a skid and it would not have ended well.

The best part of the whole trip is the dentist is just awesome. :D :D Got the teeth fixed and we didn't have WWIII on our hands.

Wish it had ended well. The roads back were much better. Wished a couple of times that I had taken my camera with me, but the batteries would have died from the cold.
Stopped at a store in Great Falls to get a couple of things, went to leave and the starter on the truck broke.
Not a happy husband, he had just replaced the starter a couple of months before.
Temp read -7 with a breeze, it felt like -20 and he was under the truck changing starters.

One good thing we will find out if feeding at 9pm does keep the cows from calving at night. :D

There's nothing worse then putting in a starter or any auto part in inclement weather, but to have to come home and feed at 9pm,dang!I'm glad he was able to see the bright side :)

Just think, tomorrow is going to be a much better day :!: Something to think about when he lays his frozen and weary self down under the nice warm blankets tonight :!: At least until first check.

No calves, been pretty quiet right now.
Blkbuckaroo I did the feeding and the night check. He stopped at the bar on the way home. A mechanic friend came out to help and told me he learned some new words for working on vehicles.

I would have been surprised if alchohol had'nt been in the picture that night.Vocabulary can get mighty colorful under those circumstances. That was mighty sweet/or smart of you to do the feeding & night checking

I hate travelling thru that Wolf Creek Canyon- as you can run into about 10 different weather conditions on the trip thru- same as when you got west out of Helena and go over the divide at MacDonald Pass ....Sun can be shining in Helena- blizzard at the top of the pass- and rainstorm on the west side of the divide- all within a few miles....

But I can remember going thru both years ago when they were just winding two lane highways...Now that was a little hairy...Much nicer now....
