An American staff sergeant who was a sniper section leader used a Quran for target practice on May 9.

The soldier reportedly claimed he wasn't aware the book was the Quran, but U.S. officials rejected his assertion.

This is sooooo stupid and uncalled for...I'm not sure there is a way to even measure it!!!!

Here in the US, the ACLU, along with liberal judges and liberal activists would be taking up for the Muslim's right to 'freedom of expression.'

Yep- maybe in both countries have the "freedom of expression"- or the right to free speech-- but in either case ITS STUPID to be doing it........

Taking the chance of being chewed up one side and down the other for this comment I have to go ahead and type it knowing the soldiers that I know and the different things they encountered over there.

If it is a book of importance to them and not one that the soldier recognizes what is the big deal? I'm sorry but if I was over there witnessing half the crud that soldiers do who's to say what one would do.

I could see them being frustrated enough to use the very book that orders the Muslims to kill them, as target practice.

I think the issue is that there are many non violent folks who worship that book...and it could be construed by those as a negative situation...but in the reality of it all this is just an action that once caught ,never needed to be brought to the publics attention......I agree with CA,who knows what things we may do there had we wittnessed what some of these fighting men and women have....if i lost friends fighting besidse me I know I would see it differently......right or wrong,I know it would taint my world with hate and that just does not go away after a week or two.... Sometimes us liberals/consevratives need to walk a mile in another mans shoes....as easy as it is to hate the reasons for war.......it is impossble to understand the levels of emotions a soldier goes through....We all have a line and once it is crossed who knows what we could do..Only those push that far can know..

Well those of you who think it's CORRECT to go maliciously and destroy personal things, that are important to other people, are what's wrong with this country.

You might as well go out and run over your kids tricycle, or their favorite dog or better yet.....take the favorite & cherished book of one of your kids....and shoot the hell out of it.

It's not the actual ' thing' be it a Quran or a Bible...it's the act of being so inconsiderate and dumbazz in your behavior is appalling.

That soldier KNEW better & saying that he didn't is a LAME and STUPID excuse.....no one, with an IQ above -4, in this whole wide world would think destroying a religious book is correct?

IF this soldier DIDN'T know that what he was shooting at WAS a ' holy book' of the country that we've been at war with for 6 years and he's actually IN that country and prob has been there a number of months ,at least, already, has heard the call to prayers & see the mosques all around, then he's too stupid to be a soldier!!!

We're ' supposed' to be over there to show them the wonderful ways of democracy , the USA and how life can be better NOW....and then we thru the acts of one person basically go and crap on something that their whole world revolves around.!!!!

And now, the people who DO know better are left behind to clean up the mess as they've trucked that guys azz outta there for his own safety!!!

And ya know what, they looks at us, the Western world, just as most of you look at the Eastern world, " seen one , seen'em all as they're all the same" So our actions are under scrutiny just as much as theirs are to us.

Way to go!!!!

So by your line of reasoning all of the Ayatollah's and Inmen if the muslem faith that destroy the Holy Bible have a - 4 I.Q.?Your logic is so flawed you make no sense or point at all!! Perhaps that is because your I.Q. is -4 when making statements like this!!

Guess I missed in the article where he took a book from some specific person? Don't see were your example of taking their favorite dog and shooting the hell out of it fits this situation?

Get over it, it was a book that outlines the killing of these very soldiers. If I found a book and it told people to kill me I would destroy it also.

As a country would I go in and destroy all the Qurans in a country? NO But a soldier shooting such an evil book of destruction and murder with a little target practice, does not even show up as a blip on my radar of carrying!

The only mistake I see in this is that the sniper didn't shoot the Koran with a big enough gun to make it unrecognizable.............

I don't see a whole lot of respect towards Christians from Muslims worldwide. You reap what you sow.

It's always amazing how some people suck up for a book that preaches hate, killing, rape, justifies slavery for non Muslims and a book that tells a Muslim may face death sentence simply for nurturing an atom of doubt on Qur'an's authenticity while at the same time sanctions all Muslims to burn all other books including the Bible with impunity which is done on a daily basis in every Muslim country today. Soon we will be imprisoned for merely questioning all the countless falsehoods in the Quran. The vast part of the Qur'an is simply nonsensical not-to-talk about those incriminating verses exhorting the believers to murder and wage an unrelenting war (Jihad) against the unbelievers. The Muslims are laughing at us while they manipulate our system and slowly bury us in red tape while soon we will be swearing in court only with the Quran which exhorts its believers to lie to the betterment of Islam.

I don't think that any of that matters to her, but naturally she had no problem with calling a US Soldier a moron....or more accurately...moron!

After some thought I reminded myself of a saying ..."sometimes being the better person is not the popular way to go,but it is ussaully the right thing to do".....Would jesus shot the quran? probably not..What this fellow did was lower himself to the level of those he is fighting against....Frustration and anger make for bad choices...Maybe he should of been the better man and walked away with the knowledge that he was just that, the better man!!!...Now he is just like those he dislikes....

Many here quote scripture and know that jesus is about love. understanding and unbreakable faith....I think a little bit of jesus in our decisions is a very comendable thing....believe in him or not,but either way,one has to admit, jesus was very a good man....
