Could this cow have in her I wonder-her erect posture and noble carriage in relation to the rest might give you a subtle hint. I took this with a 10X zoom lens on my camera. I garantee you 100 percent she won't need help calving-you wouldn't be able to catch her anyway lol.

Those kind don't stay on my place long enough to breed much less have to worry about calving them!!! They leave with wheels under them while they are young enough to follow mama into the catch pen and small enough not to break out. Life's too short to have to fool with crazies!!!

I had a couple chase me back to the truck this year... They are on the list for the fall. One by on we are getting rid of them, don't know heritage behind them except who we bought them with. Snotty little cusses.. But my guess would be EXT but I also tough NR had gotten rid of all them.. Must be a few still hanging around with eXT a few generations back.

Nooooo pretty sure there's no chi in them-I did see a chiana cow about 400 miles south of me last summer first one I've seen in years. Getting caught with those EXT daughters because of BSE is a mixed blessing I'd of hated to have sold them to a customer-lucky I only had a 100 of them-were getting them weeded out as we go.

Those EXT'S arn't the only ones to watch. Neighbours's son is in Winnipeg hospital getting his vertebra rebuilt after a TAN CHAR gave him a going over. Hope things work out for him.

Had a sweet little red angus X heifer calving in the feedlot yesterday so we brought her to the hospital and hand pulled the calf and left the pair in the small pen right outside the door. After lunch we needed to move her into a different pen and she treed both of us in the barn! I tried leading my horse out and walking on the opposite side, but she run under the horse so back in the barn we went. Had to mount up and ride out so we could get the gate open and let her out! Such a nice little mother - no one was going to mess with her baby.

If I'd gotten any closer it would of been a moving picture-I'm pretty embarrassed about that grass -kind of poorly managed on my part-I was up looking at some yearling grass we rented from a friend it's looking really good. That's meadow foxtail those cows are on in my pic.

We've got about 40 acres of meadow foxtail. Of course, we only planted 20 just to try it about 20 years ago, and have been trying to kill it ever since. It is good feed if cut real early, grows very well in low, peaty ground and on some years a guy is pretty happy to have it. Too bad it's such a weed. But like Grampa said; it's better than a kick in the arse whith a frozen mukluk.

That stand there is actually 21 years old this spring-I seeded it in a major blizzard on May 16 lol. It's a good grazing grass but it's a bit overgrazed right now-we'll pull cows off there and won't come back till August probably.

As I've said several times here I have had 0 problems out of my EXT sired cattle but I recently bought the prettiest tan Charolais heifer for what I thought was a good deal but now i am wondering as she appears like she might be one like you have described. I am hopeful I can tame her down but I don't like high headed cattle in the field especially the ones that shake their head. lol

Ok....I'll ask....what's a mukluk? (type of boot??)

From Wikipedia

Mukluks or Kamik (singular: kamak) are a soft boot traditionally made of reindeer skin or sealskin and were originally worn by Arctic natives, including the Inuit and Yupik. The term mukluk is often used for any soft boot designed for cold weather and modern designs are often similar to high-top athletic shoes. The word "mukluk" is of Yupik origin, from maklak, the Bearded Seal, while "kamik" is an Inuit word.

Another type of boot, sometimes called an Inuit boot, originating in Greenland and the eastern part of Alaska, are made by binding them with animal cartilage and have a centre seam running down to the foot of the boot.

Mukluks weigh little and allow hunters to move very quietly. They may be adorned with pompons and beads and may be lined with furs such as rabbit.

Modern mukluks based on the traditional design have become an upmarket fashion item in the United States and Europe. Notable wearers of mukluks include supermodel Kate Moss and movie actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

Another kind of mukluk is knitted with a soft leather sole. These are worn primarily by ballet dancers in place of leg/foot warmers.

I always thought of them as just warm moccassin type boots...
