What did Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in common?

This is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around. I didn't know of this until it was pointed out to me.

Back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work..

Harry Truman deported over two million Illegal's after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans.

In 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexican Nationals! The program was called 'Operation Wetback'. It was done so WWII and Korean Veterans would have a better chance at jobs It took 2 Years, but they deported them!

Now...if they could deport the illegal's back then - they could sure do it today. lf you have doubts about the veracity of this information, enter Operation Wetback into your favorite search engine and confirm it for yourself.

Reminder: Don't forget to pay your taxes...12 million Illegal Aliens are depending on you!

12 million?

20 million... 40 million? no one know the true numbers..

The total number of Americans who are not working is actually about 22 million,

"There are currently 15 to 20 million illegal aliens in this country by many estimates, but the real numbers could be much higher and the numbers increase every day because our borders are not secure

seems to me if just the 12 million dependent counted illegals leave.. it would put a huge dent in unemployment..

if the whole 40 million leave... we would see worker shortages...

so to solve the economy... deport an illegal..

FH-Not that I'm against it as I'd love to see every illegal deported-and I've given Ike credit as the last President with balls enough to do something-- but did you ever read about "Operation Wetback"?... First off- even INS figured the numbers deported removed at 800,000 to 1.3 million--not 13 MILLION...And an estimated 700,000 are believed to have fled back to Mexico on their own before the roundup began...Proabably a number closer to under 2 million actually were rid from the country.... Most numbers say 1.2 to 1.5 million in all- NOT 13 MILLION... And in 1950's when this took place- the estimated number of total illegals in the country was 3 million- not 20+ million like now.... Ike was chastised and criticized terribly by some of the world press for the "inhuman actions" of the US....With todays world press- I don't know what would happen :???: ..Split families- no deportation hearings- US citizens falsely/wrongly deported without hearings/trials- racial profiling- and the topper was when they sent boatloads of illegals to southern Mexico (thinking they wouldn't beat them back as fast as the ones they just hauled across) and some jumped overboard and drowned rather than going back to Mexico- which caused a mutiny on the ship-- and the world press chastised the US horribly for its inhumane treatment....That pretty well endedOperation Wetback....

Illegal mean not legal. Some times the right thing to do doesn't "look" good but it is still the right thing to do. Doing what looks good as your barometer is the slipperiest of slopes. I'm sure they could be screened properly to make sure the problems you suggest might (probably will) occur are limited. Aim at the most offside couple of million. It will still help. Of course it could never happen with this administration.

I think the US's largest problem with illegal immigrants is treating them as "citizens" first. We don't want to do anything to them that goes against their rights or freedoms---they are not citizens of the US; thus, they do not (should not) enjoy those freedoms and protections granted to citizens. Sounds harsh? The continued illegal immigration has treated our citizens harsh---sometimes it should be country before courtesy. It upsets me that Mexico doesn't want us to trample on their citizens rights and freedoms---send Mexico a dang bill for taking care of its citizens---one way to help pay for deportation.

Agreed, Twister Frost.

And per, I hear you. My former boss had this sign by her desk--she is the publisher of the local paper and believe me, that can be a hard job. Her husband as a show of support gave her the sign:

"What is popular isn't always right and what is right isn't always popular."

Well FH- there is a huge difference from what you posted- 13 MILLION- and what is a fact of history- 1.3 MILLION
AND
as Steve has mentioned- the logistics of rounding up, catching, and deporting the estimated 20 to 40 million illegals now in the country is going to be very difficult (lot harder than 1.3 million)- and as I have brought forward- much costlier...

Ike's era was much different- he didn't have the swarm of Baby Boomer era produced lawyers- nor many of the last 60 years of Court ruling precedents (many during the Warren court- who Ike claimed was his biggest mistake)...In this day and age- any type operation like "Operation Wetback" would immediately be challenged in court- have a stay of execution- and unless fasttracked by both the Administration and SCOTUS be tied up/held up in the courts for years- with thousands of personal lawsuits being filed (in a longterm partisan era where 100's of judgeship appointments have set vacant for years because of the Congress/Senate putting partisan politics over statesmanship).....

In this day and age, just the name Operation Wetback would generate lawsuits.

It wouldn't be easy and it sure wouldn't be cheap but I think as much deportation as we can execute and afford is in order. The press will have a heyday with all the tragic stories that are sure to come to light. I doubt if there is anybody in a leadership position today who has the intestinal fortitude to undertake it. But over the last however many years this has been allowed to get out of control and fixing it is going to be tough. Or should we just let Mexico annex the US????

Just make them unemployable and ineligible for welfare type support and I would bet most would go home.

few adults get welfare,.. it is mostly based on the child..

to cut most off would cut off support to their children born here (anchor babies)

which would be discriminatory and unconstitutional..

the jobs get them here... the welfare helps them stay..
