What Do Ya'll Think About The Stanford Rape Case?

. Turner faced up to 14 years in state prison when he was convicted in March of three felonies—assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated woman, sexually penetrating an intoxicated person with a foreign object, and sexually penetrating an unconscious person with a foreign object—and prosecutors had asked for six years. But the judge had ordered much less, saying a harsher sentence would have a “severe impact” on Turner, a star swimmer who could have made it to the Olympics.

In our politically correct world we can't tell young woman how to act or dress and who to hang out with,
.. so some find themselves victims of brutal crimes. Irregardless none of her actions justified the rape.

I think he needs to serve much more time.. and we need to tell young ladies that being intoxicated increases their chance of being assaulted.

but no one will say anything about the dangers of drinking to much because it implies the victim was at fault.

So many directions to go with this entirely despicable incident.....and too many other similar situations. Where along the way of attempts to teach kids that "you can be anything you want to be" did those kids come to hear "you can do anything you want to do"? I believe the idea was to encourage excellence and learning so that one could achieve higher goals in life. However, the outcome has been far too much self-gratification in everything from money, cars, clothing, jewelry to sexual 'action' (as that dolt of a father termed the vicious rape!) whether you have any right to it or not. It leads not to excellence and higher goals in life, but theft, whether of 'things' like the money, jewelry, etc. to taking sex from those unwilling, or unable to give it. And all to often, as in this case, there is either no penalty, or one so lenient as to encourage others to keep on taking whatever they want.

What a shallow, wasted life that young excuse of a man has had to come to this! I hope someone in his life can influence him to somehow turn his life around find some way to pay an honest penalty for what he has done and the courage to meaningfully communicate to youth how wrong such actions are.

Girls getting passed out drunk on college campuses is like taping a hundred dollar bill to your mailbox in the projects.

Yep, it might be illegal for it to be taken but to expect it to expect it to not be touched would be pretty silly.

But, I also believe that voting for a 60 something year old liberal and expecting them to be a conservative is ludicris.

Whether the young woman involved was drunk due to her own stupidity, or was 'assisted' to that point by someone putting something in her drink to render her insensible is questionable, and not really the point, since she obviously put herself in a position where it could happen. For the idiot who took advantage of her situation, he also may pay a higher price than his current spate of bad publicity. Do they ever consider the possibility of bad things happening to them???? It would be pretty easy to think he gets what he deserves if he ends up with AIDS or even a lesser disease, or is raped in prison. Why don't these people use their brain, if only for self preservation????
