Someone said that the Dems had some shin dig in Denver. I was curious as to what they had going on. I turned on the TV and all I hear is how McCain picked Sarah Palin as his VP pick. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

The Dem party announced that they are taking donations for DEPENDS as they have had a mad rush on them. I am sure that if you can't get them to the Dems you could sennd them to fff or OT and they could put them to use.

I couldn't be happier.. with Obama's pick of insider long time liberal northeast senator Biden.. Obama's ego wouldn't let hime pick Hillary..

I thought.. maybe Obama was running out of fancy speeches and needed to get some one to steal a few from some marxist,..

Then McCain goes and picks Sarah Palin.. governor of Alaska..

Made my day..

Reading several posts on here of the liberals pissing themselves.. will keep me laughing for awhile..

I bet it really did make your day, Steve. I thought about that as soon as I heard the choice because I remembered you talking about her for VP way back in January. Good call.

I was in the store today.. seems there was a rush of big boy pull ups as all the local liberals pissed themselves yesterday..

the best is that even if the liberals sling mud on her, she will still come out looking great..

I can't wait till the VP debates... Wonder how she got the nickname Sarah barracuda.. ???

Nothing much happened in Denver. More people watched Obama's speech than watched the opening of the Olympics, thirty eight million. Police estimated that the line to get into the stadium for the speech was six miles long. Gallup shows Obama with an eight point bounce from the convention and that was before his speech. And a well known Evangelical pastor from Florida, former Christian Coalition President Joel Hunter delivered the closing prayer. So, no, you didn't miss anything. :D

However, Obama is getting a bounce in the national polls. Gallup's tracking poll puts him ahead 49% to 41% and Rasmussen's tracking poll puts him ahead 49% to 45%. These are three day averages and all the interviews were done before Obama's acceptance speech. We could see more bounce tomorrow.

Ramussen ran a poll Thursday on the various Veep picks, including Sarah Palin. The results: 14% have a favorable view of her, 18% have an unfavorable view of her, 67% have never heard of her. This means that both parties are going to scramble to define her.

From newspapers in Alaska:

"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president? said [State Senate President Lyda Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla]. "Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?"

She has never publicly demonstrated the kind of interest, much less expertise, in federal issues and foreign affairs that should mark a candidate for the second-highest office in the land. Republicans rightfully have criticized the Democratic nominee, Sen. Barack Obama, for his lack of experience, but Palin is a neophyte in comparison; how will Republicans reconcile the criticism of Obama with the obligatory cheering for Palin?...Most people would acknowledge that, regardless of her charm and good intentions, Palin is not ready for the top job. McCain seems to have put his political interests ahead of the nation's when he created the possibility that she might fill it. It's clear that McCain picked Palin for reasons of image, not substance.

Lately her reputation within the state has been bit by allegations of mixing political and family business, and by mistreating one of the state's premier marine mammals. Palin's catch-phrase of "openness and transparency" has been tarnished by revelations that staff members tried to have Palin's former brother-in-law fired from his job as an Alaska state trooper. Also, the governor of the only state with polar bears has adamantly opposed listing the animals as a threatened species, despite strong evidence that global warming has devastated their sea ice environment off Alaska's coast. Dermot Cole, a longtime columnist for Alaska's second largest newspaper, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, called McCain's choice of Palin "reckless" and questioned her credentials. "Sarah Palin's chief qualification for being elected governor was that she was not Frank Murkowski," Cole said of her enormously unpopular predecessor, who lost favor with Alaskans in part because of unpopular budget cuts. "She was not elected because she was a conservative. She was not elected because of her grasp of issues or because of her track record as the mayor of Wasilla."

Been there, done that. I gotta ask you: In your many hours of frantic research on Palin the past two days, have you come across ANYTHING positive about her? Is there ANYTHING out there that makes you feel good about her? Don't forget, if you use the Clinton and Obama campaign's logic, any criticism of Palin immediately brands you as a sexist pig!!
