What if GW Bush resigns?

What if GWB resigns?

We all have our disagreements with President Bush. Immigration, U.S. Attorney firings, Iraq, Darfur, etc. Are all hot topics these days.

The following 'speech' was written yesterday by an ordinary 'Maine-iac'.  While satirical in nature, all satire must have a basis in fact to be effective.  An excellent piece by a person who does not write for a Living.  Sent with the author's permission.

The speech George W. Bush SHOULD give:

Normally, I start these things out by saying 'My Fellow Americans.'  Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore.   I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer. I'll cut right to the chase here:

I quit.

Now before anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid Prosecution or something, let me
assure you; there's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.

The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people...

I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's really going on in the world.

Or of what's going on in this once-great nation of Ours. And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let's start local.

You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media.

Polls show that the majority of you think the economy is in the tank. And that's despite record numbers of Homeowners, including record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And while we're Mentioning minorities, I'll point out that minority business ownership is at an All-time high.

Our unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during the Clinton Administration. I've mentioned all those things
before, but it doesn't seem to have sunk in. Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stock market has rebounded to
record levels and more Americans than ever are participating in these markets.

Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are
high because there's increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more
worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security. We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this 'blood For oil' thing. If I was trading blood for oil I would've already seized Iraq's oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell.

And don't give me this 'Bush Lied People Died' crap either. If I was the liar you morons take me for, I could've easily had
chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Instead, I owned up to the fact that the Intelligence was
faulty.

Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named 'Clinton' established that policy. Bet you didn't know that, did you?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing
political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the  Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to outspend and out-tech them.

That's not the case this time.

The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That'd be fine, as long as they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to kill you. And the bastards are all over the globe. You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11.

But you're not.

That's Because you've got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that.

When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor'.

Instead, you've grown impatient.

You're incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.

Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy.  Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dammit, you might just as well Fedex a grenade
launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter... most of you would rather watch American Idol.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level and has a hurricane approaching.

I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I've come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

So I quit.

I'm going back to Crawford.

I've got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I'm done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That means the smiling, vacuous nitwit Pelosi is your new President. You asked
for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there're just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

So that's it. God bless what's left of America.

Some of you know what I mean.

The rest have stopped reading by now.

Ok...is this contingent upon Cheney quitting FIRST?

And Queen Pelosi-- maybe if we could throw out this whole bunch first we could finally get to someone with common sense

The Vice President Dick Cheney
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi
President pro tempore of the Senate1 Robert Byrd
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson
Secretary of Defense Robert Gates
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales
Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne
Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns
Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez2
Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao3
Secretary of Health and Human Services Mike Leavitt
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Alphonso Jackson
Secretary of Transportation Mary E. Peters
Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman
Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jim Nicholson
Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff

In fact the White House Janitor probably could do as good as we've seen the last few years-- have more credibility and be in touch with the feelings of the majority more than any of the above...

That is exactly what I was thinking when Clinton was in hot water fooling around with Monica Lewinsky. A lot of folks wanted him to step down, or be forced to step down. I didn't. As bad as Clinton was, Gore would have been worse. Besides that, had he taken over half way through Clinton's second term, he (Gore) would have had the advantage of being an incumbent for the next election. He could have legally filled out two years of Clinton's term and had two more of his own. Ten years of Gore and his Gorebull warming would have caused the world to overheat and plumb self destruct.

So far Bush hasn't stolen millions of acres from the people of the west, as Clinton did. Go do a search of Grand Escalante.

Then reread what was written above.

I'm not too happy with Bush, but he is waaaayyyy ahead of Bill and the bitch.

I would much rather be accused of providing the sanctuary to save wilderness and prairie lands for future generations and have people like you all upset than be accused of being responsible for even the death of one American soldier. And this administration is responsible for much more than just one!!!!!!!!!

The Vice President Is Not a Part of the Executive Branch of Government?
Vice President Cheney, to avoid releasing his files and documents to the National Archives, declared that the Office of the Vice President is not a part of the Executive Branch of government and the National Archives is not entitled to his records.

Has the man lost his marbles? Did he flunk civics class in school? Why is his picture and biography on the official White House web page if he isn't a part of the Executive Branch? (http://whitehouse.gov/vicepresident) Can he be unvoted President of the Senate? Can he be fired for not the job he was elected to do?

Constitution of the United States

Article II: The Executive BranchSection 1 Clause 1: The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years,8 and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows: ...

Clause 6: In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the VicePresident, and the Congress may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.
What part of the Constitution doesn't Mr. Cheney understand?

http://hypocrisytoday.com/cheney.html

Some other websites think he has other reasons for his statements:

But in his defense, I know why he is confused. What he is trying to say is there is no executive branch in a dictatorship. I wonder what he has to hide. Don't you?

http://www.mlive.com/news/jacitpat/index.ssf?/base/news-3/1183989914242640.xml&coll=3

Definitely hasn't helped bring up the White House poll numbers...

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said Cheney is not obligated to submit to oversight by an office that safeguards classified information, as other members and parts of the executive branch are. Cheney's office has contended that it does not have to comply because the vice president serves as president of the Senate, which means that his office is not an "entity within the executive branch."
Source: White House Defends Cheney's Refusal of Oversight - washingtonpost.com

People that take a tour of the White House in the future will need to stop and pay attention to a newly installed house marker at the front gate, that will state, "Reality stopped here in 2001 when George W Bush and Dick Cheney were sworn into the offices formerly known as President and Vice President respectively and now known as the offices of Dictator 1 and Dictator 2."

Save wilderness and praire my butt, what about all the wilderness that people have been using for years and praires the same, you tree hugging, bunny kissing, idiot.

All them solders signed up to fight and if the idiots in Washington and like you would leave them the hell alone they would have this mess straightened out by now.

You want to save some land, do like the rest of us and buy it and save it. I bet you got a house don't you. Just look at all the wildlife habitat you ruined! Man, what is wrong with you?

All you dipstick so called envirowacko's think it's okay to "save" what other peoiple own, but I notice none of you are stepping up and wanting to "save" any of the land you are on or own. You want to use "our" money thru' taxes to "save" wilderness. There ain't been any wilderness in this country since before the pilgrims landed. What, the native americans in this country don't count? They left tracks all over your so called wilderness. But if anyone else wants to use it, then it's wrong?

Get a life and an education in the real world.

Go back to whining for your liberal welfare check, you twit.
