The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Barack Obama attracting 46% of the vote while John McCain earns 42%. When “leaners” are included, Obama now leads 48% to 45%. Leaners are survey respondents who initially do not favor either candidate but indicate their support on a follow-up question. One week ago today, McCain had the edge over Obama, 46% to 43%.
Oddsmakers have Dems over Repubs
Dems (Obama)-- 1-2 Odds
Repubs (McCain) 6-4
Hillary 20-1
Gore 50-1
Paul 100-1
Bloomberg 100-1
Write it down, McCain will trounce Obama. The far right will vote McCain as the lesser of the evils, the right will do the same. The far left will vote for Obama, but the everyday liberal will take a look at Obama and McCain and realize that McCain is actually one of them and Obama is just a stuffed shirt.
You heard it here folks.
You could be right Sandhusker- but just as the report below says- every downward move the economy takes- the same upward move the Dems make... I see no changes in store in the direction of the economy before Nov- and with the speed its increasing its downward tumble, and local impacts-- so by that time, people might want to vote for anyone as long as they are not connected to or with Bush, or the borrow and spend Republicans they blame for 7 years of squandering a sound economy- especially with McSAME backslapping and echoing everything GW does and says....
Also on the #2 issue- Iraq- 59% of Americans want the troops home within a year- in direct conflict with Bush's trying to sign secret treaties to keep bases and troops in Iraq for years- and McSAME's 100 years in Iraq...

59% of Adults Want Troops Home from Iraq Within the Year

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 59% of Americans want the troops brought home from Iraq within a year.
The other reason I'll go with the bookies and the Votemaster is that they have been right in 2000, 2004, and 2006 and now again with the current primaries along with most of the recent Senate/Congress races.....
I get the impression these bookies (bettors) have more of a feel of the entire nation than either you or I do in our limited contacts....
News from the Votemaster
The economy is heading south. The Dow lost 394 points, unemployment took the biggest jump upwards in two decades, oil hit $139 a barrel, gas is averaging $3.99 a gallon nationally, inflation is around the corner, and the European Central Bank is going to raise (not lower) interest rates. All this bodes ill for the Republicans. Most hard-pressed families intutitively understand that when times are tough the Democrats' prescription for more government spending to create jobs is better for them than tax cuts, especially tax cuts tilted heavily towards the rich. Barack Obama has had trouble connecting with blue-collar workers. A sick economy gives him the opening he needs to address their concerns. Earlier this year he proposed a big government program to rebuild America's crumbling infrastructure (and create jobs in every congressional district, which is easy to sell to Congress). It probably won't be long before Obama trots it out again.
