Former lawmaker accused of raping two girls; one was former legislative page
Court documents: Klaudt performed 'exams' under guise of egg harvesting

Former state lawmaker Ted Klaudt is facing criminal charges including eight counts of rape and additional charges of stalking and sexual contact with a child.

One of the victims was a former legislative page who was reportedly assaulted while staying with Klaudt in his Pierre hotel room during the 2006 legislative session.

Klaudt, 49, of Walker, was arrested this morning.

The charges, which involve two girls, were filed this morning in two South Dakota counties.

He's accused of performing "ovary checks" and "breast exams" on one of the girls under the guise that he was helping her to donate her eggs, according to court records.

When the girl began to cry, he would give her beer or alcohol, the documents state.

On Feb. 2, when Division of Criminal Investigation agents interviewed Klaudt, he initially denied performing any tests on the girls, according to court records.

But when the agents confronted him with contents of emails he's accused of sending the girls, he changed his story, the records state.

Klaudt then stated that "maybe I did some things I shouldn't have," according to a court affidavit.

In Hughes County, which is home to the state capitol, Klaudt faces four counts of second-degree rape, according to an arrest warrant and complaint.

Two of the rape counts date to March 2005 and a third one is alleged to have occurred in January, according to the court records.

In Corson County, where Klaudt is from, he faces four more counts of second-degree rape and two counts of witness tampering.

Klaudt is accused of trying to influence witnesses to testify falsely or withhold testimony, according to the Corson County charges.

Other charges include two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor; stalking; and sexual contact with a child under 16.

Klaudt is in the custody of the Corson County Sheriff, and is on his way to Deadwood, according to Sara Rabern of the Attorney General's Office.

Klaudt, a Republican who was elected to the House of Representatives in 1998, is a farmer and rancher.

He served four two-year terms, ran for the Senate last fall and lost to Democrat Ryan Maher of Isabel.

During his eight years in the House, Klaudt served on the Appropriations Committee. During his last term, he served as chairman of the Government Operations and Audit Committee.

Soap, do they just elect anyone with a "republican" name tag where you are from?

Hmmm I think I see the connection to soap. You looked at MMnP's post about rope, you then thought of soap. You aren't by chance a lawyer and afraid to go to jail are you? I'm starting to understand the disjointed posts and the added information without any clear statement or question. You're a lawyer and soap on a rope lowers your exposure when you go to the pen.

On the child molester, beat him to death with a rough stick.

I'm not from South Dakota but I have some friends there that told me this guy was really into "family values" and preached morals quite regularly. (To me that's a red flag right there). This whole story makes me sick. I wonder how many other victims there are.

Preaching morals is a good thing. Not practicing them is another...

"There is no one righteous, not even one." Romans 3:10

We all fall victim to wrongdoing. Not saying he is in the right, just saying that we all, even those of us who believe (and preach) the right thing, can fall prey to poor decisions.

To me this is a little bit more than just a "poor decision"...

Wow are you a smart one. Thanks for clearing that up. Now I know if I have to get someone to babysit , I'll be sure to get one that preaches immorality and that is for illicit lifestyles (you'd probably prefer gay ones if I remember) and certainly won't choose someone preaching morality and family values.

Klaudt was our State Representative. He was term limited. Prior to that, he won each election handily. And, before this, I'd say Klaudt was a well respected, well liked person both in the community and in the legislature.

When we voted for him, we never knew this about him, and apparently neither did most of his constituency.

Econ 101---we live on an Indian Reservation. It is very difficult for Republican to be elected. What I am saying is he appealed to a lot of the population, both Republican and Democrat. It is not fair to slam or bias our area because of this. He was elected on what the voters knew at the time. Hindsight is 20/20. Leave our community out of this. How guilty do you think our community feels for sending this creep to the legislature? It was the talk of our High School Rodeo...folks are flat sick about it.

I personally read the indictment. It will make you puke. I think it should have been sealed, so he would be tried in our county. I am now sure, this case will be moved.

Sadly, you'd likely not hear nearly as much about the case if he had not have been our Representative. And, even more sad, I personally believe that there are hundred's if not thousands more sickos around like him.

I'm with Red Robin, beat him to death with a rough stick.

Homosexuality and Child Sexual Abuse

printer-friendly page

email this item

Summary:
The circle of abuse is the tragic legacy of the attempts by homosexuals to legitimize having sex with boys. For too many boys it is already too late to protect them from those who took advantage of their need for love and attention. All too many later perpetrate the abuse by themselves engaging in the sexual abuse of boys. Only by exposing the lies, insincere denials, and deceptions -- including those wrapped in scholastic garb -- of those who prey sexually on children, can we hope to build a wall of protection around the helpless children among us.

Issue No.: 247
by: Timothy J. Dailey, Ph. D.

Scandals involving the sexual abuse of under-age boys by homosexual priests have rocked the Roman Catholic Church. At the same time, defenders of homosexuality argue that youth organizations such as the Boy Scouts should be forced to include homosexuals among their adult leaders. Similarly, the Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), a homosexual activist organization that targets schools, has spearheaded the formation of "Gay-Straight Alliances" among students. GLSEN encourages homosexual teachers--even in the youngest grades--to be open about their sexuality, as a way of providing role models to "gay" students. In addition, laws or policies banning employment discrimination based on "sexual orientation" usually make no exception for those who work with children or youth.

Many parents have become concerned that children may be molested, encouraged to become sexually active, or even "recruited" into adopting a homosexual identity and lifestyle. Gay activists dismiss such concerns--in part, by strenuously insisting that there is no connection between homosexuality and the sexual abuse of children.

However, despite efforts by homosexual activists to distance the gay lifestyle from pedophilia, there remains a disturbing connection between the two. This is because, by definition, male homosexuals are sexually attracted to other males. While many homosexuals may not seek young sexual partners, the evidence indicates that disproportionate numbers of gay men seek adolescent males or boys as sexual partners. In this paper we will consider the following evidence linking homosexuality to pedophilia:

· Pedophiles are invariably males: Almost all sex crimes against children are committed by men.

· Significant numbers of victims are males: Up to one-third of all sex crimes against children are committed against boys (as opposed to girls).

· The 10 percent fallacy: Studies indicate that, contrary to the inaccurate but widely accepted claims of sex researcher Alfred Kinsey, homosexuals comprise between 1 to 3 percent of the population.

· Homosexuals are overrepresented in child sex offenses: Individuals from the 1 to 3 percent of the population that is sexually attracted to the same sex are committing up to one-third of the sex crimes against children.

· Some homosexual activists defend the historic connection between homosexuality and pedophilia: Such activists consider the defense of "boy-lovers" to be a legitimate gay rights issue.

· Pedophile themes abound in homosexual literary culture: Gay fiction as well as serious academic treatises promote "intergenerational intimacy."

MALE HOMOSEXUALS COMMIT A DISPROPORTIONATE NUMBER OF CHILD SEX ABUSE CASES
Homosexual apologists admit that some homosexuals sexually molest children, but they deny that homosexuals are more likely to commit such offenses. After all, they argue, the majority of child molestation cases are heterosexual in nature. While this is correct in terms of absolute numbers, this argument ignores the fact that homosexuals comprise only a very small percentage of the population.

The evidence indicates that homosexual men molest boys at rates grossly disproportionate to the rates at which heterosexual men molest girls. To demonstrate this it is necessary to connect several statistics related to the problem of child sex abuse: 1) men are almost always the perpetrator; 2) up to one-third or more of child sex abuse cases are committed against boys; 3) less than three percent of the population are homosexuals. Thus, a tiny percentage of the population (homosexual men), commit one-third or more of the cases of child sexual molestation.

Turkey, you are right, and I don't hold your area in disregard because of this. It was his act, and his act alone (that we know of). There should be no community guilt associated with it at all or even republican guilt---not so in the Foley case where it was covered up for the good of the party. It is too bad this guy had this problem and his life is probably ruined forever or at least tainted forever because of it. His victim sure is.

Good luck to you on sorting this out---maybe it will help bind the community to do better next time.

You misunderstand what I am talking about. I speak of matters of the heart. The Bible reference, "There is no one righteous, not even one," Romans 3:10 was left off my quote. (I don't appreciate you cutting that out, Oldtimer.)

My discussion is about what we all face in the afterlife. We are all guilty of wrongdoing and when we have to face Jesus at judgement day, we will all be seen guilty.

One little snide remark (really the inner attitude) can turn into a whole host of sins. Don't you recall the drug education of teen years? One puff of marijuana first, next a habit, which then turns into experimental use of more dangerous drugs. How do you think Ken Lay, the Rigas', Ebbers, Martha Stewart, and a host of other CEO's and execs. climbed to the level of scandolous acts? We in the western world view sexual scandalous acts as quite repulsive but there are many such repugnant crimes here and all around the world. And they usually don't just start with the biggie.

Sure, in this world there should be punishment for crimes, including Klaudt. We all know how that plays out. Isn't that what 50% of the arguments on Ranchers have been about? So why does this guy deserve more than Martha Stewart? Is it because we find sex acts more disgusting than shrewd financial acts?

The poor decision wasn't necessarily the "feeling up" of the little girls. The poor decision was allowing things of this world to enter into the mind which in turn helped the criminal to rationalize in his mind that this was okay. By the way, you do all believe that this guy thought it was okay, at the time, that is? Once we each permit a little bit of sin in our lives, we have permitted more than we ever imagined. Because what begins small only grows.

I do not find myself free from guilt either. I am not holier than thou. I am just speaking the truth. You need not misinterpret my words again OT and RR.
