What the heck is going on?

Someone please tell me what the HELL's wrong with all the people that run this country!!!

We're "broke" & can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless, etc.,???

In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, and Turkey...and now, Pakistan...home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

Our retired seniors living on a "fixed income" receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour
hundreds of billions of $$$$'s and tons of Food to Foreign Countries!

We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.

AMERICA: A country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without "needed" meds, and mentally ill without treatment, etc., etc.

YET...
They have a "Benefit" for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.

Imagine if the "GOVERNMENT" gave "US" the same support they give to other countries.

Sad isn't it?

adoptable, or in foster care?

when a child goes up for adoption in our country, often the biological parents still retain the ability to change their mind, and often do.

courts find severing a parents rights a last option and often leave ways for the biological parent to retain the right to be the only parent of the child, despite losing custody of the child to the system repeatedly..

this leaves hundreds of thousands of children in foster care, often until the desirable age of adoption is passed..

so yes there are thousands of teens and damaged children available for adoption, in our country, if you can get through the hurdles of a state adoption,

the problem isn't for a lack of caring adoptive parents, but for a lack of a system that will say enough is enough and do what is right for the child..

Okay, I answered my own question. Not very dramatic:

The Japanese Foreign Ministry said that it would provide $200,000 to the American Red Cross to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina. Japan also identified needs in affected regions via the U.S. government and provided up to $300,000 in emergency supplies such as tents, blankets and power generators if they receive requests from the U.S. for such assistance. One Japanese individual, Takashi Endo, donated USD 1 million from his personal funds to Katrina relief efforts.

Interesting, Silver, thanks.
I'll bet there will be American and Canadian individuals that donate
to Japan as well. They always have and it is a wonderful gesture.

This just came up on Yahoo home page:

Japan earthquake and tsunami: How to help
– Waves of tsunami hit residences after a powerful earthquake in Natori, Miyagi prefecture (state), Japan, … .By Lili Ladaga lili Ladaga – Fri Mar 11, 11:48 am ET
Japan was hit by one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded on Friday. The magnitude-8.9 quake spawned a deadly tsunami that slammed into the nation's east coast, leaving a huge swath of devastation in its wake. Hundreds of people are dead and many more are still missing or injured.

Japan has often donated when other countries have experienced disasters, such as when Hurricane Katrina impacted the United States. Below are organizations that are working on relief and recovery in the region.

AMERICAN RED CROSS: Emergency Operation Centers are opened in the affected areas and staffed by the chapters. This disaster is on a scale larger than the Japanese Red Cross can typically manage. Donations to the American Red Cross can be allocated for the International Disaster Relief Fund, which then deploys to the region to help. Donate here.

GLOBALGIVING: Established a fund to disburse donations to organizations providing relief and emergency services to victims of the earthquake and tsunami. Donate here.

SAVE THE CHILDREN: Mobilizing to provide immediate humanitarian relief in the shape of emergency health care and provision of non-food items and shelter. Donate here.

SALVATION ARMY: The Salvation Army has been in Japan since 1895 and is currently providing emergency assistance to those in need. Donate here.

AMERICARES: Emergency team is on full alert, mobilizing resources and dispatching an emergency response manager to the region. Donate here.

CONVOY OF HOPE: Disaster Response team established connection with in-country partners who have been impacted by the damage and are identifying the needs and areas where Convoy of Hope may be of the greatest assistance. Donate here.

INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CORPS: Putting together relief teams, as well as supplies, and are in contact with partners in Japan and other affected countries to assess needs and coordinate our activities. Donate here.

SHELTER BOX: The first team is mobilizing to head to Japan and begin the response effort. Donate here.

Should ANY aid be given to Japan then?

Generous people should always aid their friends in times of needs.

at a minimum, we should provide the logistics and immediate needs of our good friend and ally.

foreign aid in a disaster is not only warranted but an essential act any civilization should commit to.

but continued everyday aid to rogue nations, with little control on how or who gets the fat check needs to stop..

FH, it seems the answer to your question somehow got sidetracked to the issue of Japan. I wa speaking to one of my buddies over the phone tonight about what you just brought up. The U.S. suffers one of the higher poverty levels aroundf! But yet we dish out millions to other countries. Why is that? Politicans is my answer. Politicians (Democrat and Republican alike) who feel it's the role of the U.S. to be #1. Unfortunatlely, the U.S. is #1 in very little anymore. But other countries just feed into our ego of being #1 to extract $'s. It's time to hang out a sign saying the U.S. IS NO LONGER YOUR SACRED COW! Let's take care of our own first! And then do what we can to help others.

I feel for Japan. The thought of a natural catastrophy such as that happening on our soil is mind blowing, but it could happen. We should help Japan but we do not have to be the leader in that effort.

I have always given from my heart. As a nation we should also give from our heart. Are all our bills paid? Have we taken care of our responsiblities? If we answer no to either then we need to take care of those first. Then give what we can.

The U.S. suffers one of the higher poverty levels around!

that really depends on how you define poverty..

I use my experience to define poverty... if the poverty is due to alcohol, drug use and bad lifestyle choices, it is not poverty but stupidity..

if the poverty is due to oppression by the government ,, , a factor in many warring African nations, and north Korea.. then it is oppression,,. and while the poverty is obvious, no amount of aid will fix the problem..

real poverty is often a combination of natures wrath made worse by dictators uncaring hardened hearts...

that poverty often doesn't have a shelter, clean water nor food for weeks on end...

I've seen alot of poverty in the world, mostly in countries with a dictator who lives well beyond anyone's imagination, and I've seen alot of stupidity in our country...
