New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R) criticized the National Rifle Association on Thursday for referencing President Obama's daughters in an attack ad, calling the web video "reprehensible" and "awful."

"To talk about the president's children or any public officers children who have, not by their own choice, but by requirement, to have protection, to use that somehow to try to make a political point I think is reprehensible," Christie said during a press conference.

"I think it's awful to bring public figures' children into the political debate," Christie continued. "They don't deserve to be there. And I think for any of us who are public figures, you see that kind of ad and you cringe."

Here, on this site, when anyone brings the children of another into a fight/discussion ,you all cry foul!!

What say you about this?

No bitchin, preaching or comments about my ass or the present color of my hair.....just your honest opinion.

I think he's correct. It would be patently stupid for any president to enroll his kids in a public school that offered zero level of protection from the nutcases out there who'd do others harm, especially the kids of prominent politicians.

I also think it's stupid and self-serving for the NRA to bring them into the argument, just as it was stupid and self-serving for the prez to surround himself with kids as he proposed new weapons-related laws.

As for the fat boy Christie, I think he's probably a fine pub governor for the citizens of the state of New Jersey.

I liked the way he told assorted special interest groups to take a hike, that the state could no longer afford business-as-usual. Takes nads to do that in a heavy-donk state loaded with unions.

Having said that, I don't know much more about the guy. IIFC, Steve says he's a RINO. I guess asking for a conservative pub in NJ is a bit much.

Christy has ended his future chances as a republican presidential candidate. He helped Oblamea win re-election, & can't keep his big fat mouth shut.

nawww.. he's a snake or a wolf in sheep's clothing.

He had a really nice speech at the republican convention making it sound as if he's really for the people ..... but that's as far as it went ..... all talk ...

Actions speak louder than words....

Didn't Obama appoint him to the Advisory Committee for trade policys and negotiations in 2010?

and then he was investigated for corruption and blackmail:

He's as corrupt as most other politicians..........

NJ voters overwhelmingly back Christie's rebuke to House Republicans

CNN's Ashley Killough

(CNN) – While House Republican leaders may not have enjoyed their verbal lashing from Gov. Chris Christie earlier this month over the delayed vote on a relief package for Superstorm Sandy, the governor's public scolding sure found support among New Jersey voters.

A whopping 79% of Garden State voters, including 70% of Republicans, say their GOP governor was right to criticize the Washington lawmakers, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.
-----------

Christie's job approval ratings, however, have soared since the storm, as the governor has continued to receive high praise for his handling of the aftermath. In the poll, 74% of voters in the state say they approve of his work–his highest score ever in Quinnipiac polls.

Breaking it down by party, 93% of Republicans approve, while 78% of Democrats feel the same way. Those aren't bad numbers for a governor who's up for re-election this year and could potentially run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. The survey also shows Christie leading possible Democratic challengers in his gubernatorial run by margins of 2 to 1 or higher.

"Overwhelming support for their Jersey Guy (governor) from every group in every corner of the state translates into a sky-high approval rating matched only by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. 2016 – here we come," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, in a release for the poll.

Looks like Steve is in the " hate everything/everybody- Tea party of NO" minority on Christie-- and his popularity has risen in the view of the common sense and sane folks...

Kind of like all the Texans/Perry were doing when they were screaming about not getting their FEMA drought/fire disaster funds fast enough...

Everybody wants their teat when it comes around their way... It was one of the things that made Perry and the Teabaggers such a joke last election...

the state is overwhelmingly liberal... so when Christie acts liberal why wouldn't they approve..

so if you want to consider them having common sense sane.. then you are either clueless or never been to a big city before... can't you cultists ever think for your self?,, why must the beliefs of one be the only acceptable answer?

Is anything being changed with the rebuild so the next "perfect storm" won't do as much damage? I've always been amazed at anyone getting coverage when they build or buy potentially right in harms way.

if you think the photo of the roller-coaster floating out at sea was disturbing...

The 38 storm.

they are redrawing the flood maps again... some would say this storm was unusual in many ways and unprecedented.. yet it has happened on several occasions... The 38 storm, The Ash Wednesday 62 flood the other Perfect storm were all Nor'easters with another system involved..

the new yet to be released maps will make living at the shore unaffordable for the average family.. and make it very uncertain for those who lost everything..

Over the past few years, FEMA has been hammered with insurance claims. In an effort to keep expenses under control, FEMA has been encouraging relocation instead of rebuilding after a disaster. FEMA has also been re-drawing the flood plain maps that determine were you can build.

Congress originally intended that operating expenses and flood insurance claims be paid for through the premiums collected for flood insurance policies.[4] NFIP borrows from the U.S. Treasury for times when losses are heavy, and these loans are paid back with interest.

Since 1978, the National Flood Insurance Program has paid more than $38 billion in claims (as of March 31, 2011). More than 40 percent of that money has gone to residents of Louisiana.

when the government provides a service.. it is usually poorly ran and never properly funded..

I expect to get hit with higher premiums again .. despite never filing a claim in over 25 years,.. and this property has never have had a claim filed in the entire 85 years it has been here, to pay for those who constantly file claims year after year....
