I got to get outside now, weather's been nice so today is the day we chip seal some road, sure be glad to get this done, dang roads around here are always gettin washed out or iced over, this chip seal process will at least keep em from washin out and give some traction on these slopes.
good luck

Agenda here this afternoon will be rollin up the hay that's been cut and layin for a week. Finally dry enuff to get to it.

Yesterday an uncle tried getting in to cut his hay......stuck his tractor. FIL raked ours yesterday afternoon while we made a parts run to College Station. So guess ours must drain better than his. LOL

Processed the pasture born calves and turned them out on corn with their Mamas.

Then the #$%^ hit the fan! :? Which is another way of saying I spent the afternoon running the manure spreader.   One more pen to go!

Popsicles got me more relief from the cough and sore throat than anything else. A whole box full. :p :p Take it easy!

Weaned a bunch of calves and pregged about 80 cows from 4:00 PM to 6:30 in the moonlight. The vet was 4 hrs late as the neighbor's new corral fell down and the pregged cows got mixed with the un-pregged cows, as they were not marking them with a crayon (as most of us don't bother to do ), the vet had to re-preg all of them.
I did ask him if he was able to charge double for that. :D

Anyway, we have about 60 left at the new place and then wean and preg at home tommorow. It will be another long day.

Of note, it was interesting how well those cows worked through the chute in the dark. Old Roy, our eldest dependant, :) told me they used to gather his family's cattle in the moonlight as they felt wild cattle handled better then. I have a hunch that maybe the odd party that happened occasionaly at roundup may have had a lot to do with the midnight cowboys.
