Are you being gouged by Big Oil?

"Gas supplies are at an 8-year high; gas prices have doubled since 2004. Talking Points has been saying for more than a year that US oil companies are exploiting uncertainty in the world by raising prices they don't have to raise. It has nothing to do with supply and demand; it's all about exploiting fears about terrorism, Iran, and what might happen down the road. There are Americans that believe that private companies have the right to do whatever they want, no matter what. But remember the oil industry operates with the cooperation of the government, it's not a free market. The announcement that Exxon-Mobil will pay its retired CEO Lee Raymond a $400 million package was really the kicker. Exxon-Mobil has insulted its customers once again. Does Exxon-Mobil remember the French Revolution? There's a limit to what the public will accept, so I am never, ever buying a drop of oil from Exxon-Mobil again. They've crossed that line and are hurting the country. And finally, the country of Brazil will stop importing oil next year - they're completely free of OPEC because the government in the 1970's ordered that every car sold in that country run on ethanol. Brazil made that happen, the USA will not. We the people are paying dearly for that dereliction, and we will continue to pay."

Right now gas costs $1.05 a liter in AB. They say it might reach $1.50 this summer!
In other parts of Canada say like Nova Scotia, gas is $1.25 a liter right now.
This is just killing me. I cant afford to show my horses. It would cost me atleast $55 for gas to haul my horses 60 miles and there is no way I can dish out the money they want for a diesel truck to try to save a bit on fuel.
We have cut back as much as we can but our fuel bill is still the biggest bill every month.
What pisses me off is then you hear the leftest wack jobs on the news saying that this is great and that people will have to get rid of there SUVs and use public transit, etc. Yeah that might work good if you live in town or Calgary or something. What about everybody else who is trying to make a living who cant live in town?
The last colt I bought it cost me $400 for gas just to go get it and bring it home.

Well if it gets any worse we always have are horses and can just use the vehicles when we absolutely have to :) It may take longer to get where your going but you don't have to walk. I have a team that we use with a chuckwagon could be fun. But seriously you see the inflation more on gas because we buy such large amounts at a time. What would we be spending if we were buying cough syrop or other things like that by the litre or gallon it would be way up there as well. Not to mention the taxes on fuel . yuck its all just crazy. :(
