When should i sell?

Howdy to all you Ranchers out there. I am considering selling a black semintall bull that weighs about 400-450 pounds. He is quite stocky and extremely muscular. Not much hay down here in South Carolina this year cause of drought. Should I sell soon or hold out in hopes of a better market? Any help will be very appreciated.

I'm not sure what the fundamentals are where you are for thinking the market will be better or worse later on. If you don't have or can't afford the feed for this guy, sell him before he becomes a liability.

per is right, each day you hold him costs you money. unless you know for sure that the price will go up. But then NOBODY really knows that. Some might profess to know. Maybe you could sell him privately to someone that owns some others that he would fitt well with, especially if he is a superior animal

I just read some wisdom on another post that applies here. "It is never as good as it looks and it is never as bad as it looks."

If you are to become a rancher or any other kind of businessperson remember not to beat yourself up and second guess your decisions. It won't change anything and will only make you miserable. Use the knowledge you gained to good use next time. Don't waste good brain cells on doubt.

10-4 I will take your wisdom for what it's worth. I found out yesterday that they double tagged my bull meaning that they put the same number on another animal and there was a big confusion. Still don't know what i made but should know by tomorrow.
