I would bring up the negative to and have.....but you see Tam,you not giving them the truth as much as you claim you are .Sure its my opinion.....I use the system and it has saved my life.....My friends use the system and it has saved their lives.....I know millions of people every year that use the system to get better or save thier lives.....You all call it my opinion, but if so,then its the opinion of someone who has uses the system with none of the problems you write about....I will not say its perfect, for it seems others have had issues.....but not one canadian in all your efforts to discredit our system has gone bankrupt,or been turned away due to a pre excisting conditions..Yes you may wait, but what is the answer to not waiting....letting the one with the most money to the front of the line?...Whats your answer?
I'm glad your experience with the Canadian Health Care system was good but you seem to think that just because your experience was good everyone's is and that is not the truth. There are alot of people that live in needless pain for way to long in our system. That time they wait in many cases has a very lasting effect on their over all health and lack of abilitiy to make a full recovery or carry on a normal life. I read that there is now over a million people on a waiting list of some kind waiting for health care treatment and the longer they wait the more expensive the treatment and the less likelyhood of a full recovery. Some are even loosing limbs do to waiting for treatment.
I also keep hearing that the Canadian system is a preventive care system and that we all see doctors for regular check ups. Can you explain how this claim can be backed when over 5 million Canadians don't even have a doctor to get a check up? There is a video out that proved you can't just walk in and get a simple blood test without a Doctor and to get one you have to sit on a waiting list .
Maybe people aren't going bankrupt but some are loosing quality of life and some are even dieing waiting for treatment is that better than going bankrupt nonothing? As far as I know a person can come back from bankruptcy our neighbor has done it several times but I have never known anyone that has come back from death.
We need to stop thinking that the government can provide everything as it is plain to see they can't or our system would not be imploding. I feel if a person wants to opt out of the public system IE not pay the taxes to fund it and take that money and pay for their own insurance that will pay no matter where they recieve treatment, be it in Canada, the US or Timbucktoo, that should be their right. But as it stands you can't opt out of a system that may not beable to provide the treatment you need in an acceptable timeframe. And in many cases that system will not pay for your treatment if you decide to go to where you can get the treatment you need. You pay for that out of pocket and chance going bankrupt for your troubles. If it is truly a Health "Care" system then why is it you are limited to where you can get the care you need? :?
..Yes you may wait, but what is the answer to not waiting....letting the one with the most money to the front of the line?..
That happens now nonothing, I just read a story about a little girl that lives in Alberta and she had sudden leg pains so the mom took her to the hospital, and it was thought she needed a CT scan to see what the problem was. She was going to have to wait like all the other on the list ahead of her but her father felt he didn't want to wait so he used his clout to get the CT scan that day. Turn out it was Cancer but was it fair that she got the CT for her leg pain while others had to wait months for maybe the same thing only to be bumped to make room for her?
Oh I forgot the mother and father of the little girl were both doctors that had pull in the Calgary hospital they worked in and that is why the little girl got jumped to the top of the list and someone else that didn't work there got bumped to make time for her. I have heard stories of how those that work in the system seem to have better care than those that don't and this story proves it.
If we truly had a everyone waits no matter how rich you are system like some believe we have then that little girl would not have had her CT scan that day she would have had to wait just like all the other patients with leg pain. If we really want to have an even playing field everyone should beable to do what ever they feel they need to do to get the treatment they want just like the Doctors did for their little girl. If they don't want to stay in the Public system then they should have the right to opt out and use their money to fund their own health care insurance.
