Where did this heat come from?

Was busy fencing today and man was it hot, it got right up to 31C which I think is close to 90F. :???: Turned the first group of cows with later calves out. They are sure enjoying running around in the pasture. The weather boys are saying we could have four days of rain starting tomorrow night but I ve seen them be wrong before..

I'd melt in 90 heat-- Got to 76 here today and I was getting hot in the loader tractor (heat, but no air) and after I got done spreading some new gravel around the yard I loaded the grandkids on the 4 wheeler and we spent the afternoon gopher hunting....1 kid standing in an antpile, 1 kneeling in cactus (twice) and I wasn't too sure it was such a bright idea  But we smoked 20 or 30 gophers and cleaned the dust out of the old 22-250....And its so much fun to see how high I can flip them little varmints with those 40 grain hollowpoints...Let the kids shoot the 357 magnum Marlin carbine and altho they didn't hit anything they had fun blowing dirt up...

I'm glad it was gophers you was smokin', OT and not something else!!
As I was reading along and got to that part I thought "what the heck?"
It was funny!

Too warm here today too. But it was a really nice day and I did get the deck stained. Glad that job is over.

OT, can't take the grandkids gopher hunting but I got Corkey. Sw was shooting as we have some moving in on the house. Get them in the head and they are doing the "chicken" and Corkey takes off and grabs them by the back of the neck and shakes them to make sure they are dead. He is so proud of himself for killing those varmints. The best is when he chases a live one so fast and it goes down it's hole and he ends up doing a handstand when he puts the brakes on.

FH- Talking of smoke-- Yesterday my youngest daughter brought a friend of hers and her friends new baby out to the house...About 5 minutes after they got here, we got a call from town that the bridge across Cherry Creek on our road was on fire...Girls said they thought they smelled smoke when they went across ( both blonde teenagers so the flames may have been 20 feet high  )--Anyway it really cooked the bridge...County boys came out and earned some overtime and put in a culvert and detour road....

Bridge was built in the 30's and was in need of replacement- but I don't think they were planning on doing it this year... They figure some kids playing under it started the grass and weeds on fire......

Hanta-- My "corkie" is those two kids-- they're running all over checking the ones we shot-- Their mom just got them to take them home for a tick check--they've already brought home a couple of ticks thanks to following Grandpa

Its a real strange night outside right now here, its still quite humid and its raining like crazy. It was hot here again today... it was around 89. Sounds like we could be in for a wet week but the weather boys have been wrong before. Hope you miss the snow ranch wife and get rain.

Storm after storm rolling thru...Another just hit and woke me up....Checked the rain gauge and we have about 1/2 an inch....

Wierd all these different little storms-- be perfectly calm and nice- and then be thundering, lightning, raining, and the wind howling 50 mph.....The way the radar looks it could be happening all night....

All on its way toward Big Muddy's country....

our little "banana belt" valley is socked in right now!! Mountains are getting dumped on but so far, here in the valley, we are still only getting the rain!! Much rather have that than any more of that darned white stuff!
