Where in the Crap is FEMA?

Ok I am mad, where is FEMA at? We currently have snow drifts but it has not snowed, It is from sleet and rain. Looks like we have 5 inches of snow on ground and not one flake has flown.

My Furnace is out and lights are flickering. My parents and sister lost their electric so far as well as many in area. Saw on news some locals going to buy generators and gas to run them. They should have been crying for FEMA!

I want FEMA to send me some food, tired of eating all this stuff I stalked up on before the storm hit. I want some free stuff. When will they pay for me to go to a motel preferably one with a pool so my kids can swim.

It sucks to be prepared for catastrophe, you do not get on the news as you complain and you do not get any free stuff. And I will never get to be on Oprah.

Well better go huddle up around the fire with the family to stay warm, Hope FEMA sends me some fire wood, them ricks of wood I stacked on the porch before the storm hit might only last a couple weeks.

What part of Kansas are you in? My wife called from McPherson County and said there is slick roads and sleet there. Out here in Dodge City everything is just fine.

We are in the most extreme south east corner. When you see news about MO,OK it is on us to. Joplin MO is 20 miles from us. Pittsburg KS is 20 miles from us and Miami OK is 20 miles from us.

Yeah, I'm pretty familiar with that area. That little strip club on the north side of the road always looks pretty busy for being out there by it's self. I have travelled a lot in the past ten years and I used to live in Vinita, OK. Been up and down your area roads many times.

Used to go to Waylan's KuKu burger joint (however you spell it!) all the time in Miami. Had a buddy that bought and then sold 240 acres right up the road from the Redbird Ranch on 10 a couple of years ago. Rented some grass from the Reisch family.

Just a had a Ku Ku Double Cheeseburger a few days ago! I was raised in a little town called Peori OK, went to school in Quapaw and lived in Miami home of the Ku Ku when we first got married.

Let me know if you are down in the area again I will treat you to a Ku Ku burger. :)

I have family in Marion county, and they say the ice was pretty bad there, no power outages, but the roads are terrible.

Here in Cherokee county we have not lost any electic so far. We use to loose electric when it rained until about a year ago and they did some updating on our service now it hangs in pretty good.

Just 20 miles south in OK and MO it is a lot worse. My parents and sister both lost electric yesterday and is still off. I think I was kind of lucky our furnace went out so all my family decided to get motels instead of live in a 20 x 40 room with fireplace. We might not all like each other after a few days in one room and 12 people

But then again I ask were is FEMA why do my parents not have a Trailer to move into with a generator? Were are the Movie stars to come save us from the cold. I would get on the roof top if it was not so slick, I wonder if if we all laid out and made snow angels so they could see us from the helicopters they would come?

Saw on news that there was a concern in Joplin MO about looting since power was out in many areas. But after interviewing the local police they said this has not been a problem.

Funny, empty houses, no electricity, people staying in motels, no FEMA Just feel good reports of people talking about getting Motels and taking time to play Monopoly and spend time together during the blackouts.

Stories of shelters being set up and people helping people.

And some on here do not see differences in the bible belt Midwesterners like MO, OK, KS and Colorado and the trash from New Orleans.

You made your point, you can stop anytime now....I think you do not see the differences either aplus, but you got to vent and make your cracks at all who your upset with....I am glad you live in a place that cares for eachother....imagine if you did not..I wonder if the cracks would stop..you make it seem like all who lost in new Orleans desrved it and are second rate people....I am sure there was good caring family men just like yourself looking for help that came to late. Maybe even they hurt to see how some in their own city folk have acted....This painting all from N.O. with a negative brush is just like you Aplus, not sure why i even bother typing to you.....

I do hope all your family friesnds and community are ok and are now warm and safe in their homes or at least found warm and safe place to ride out the storm..With out worry of losing anything that they built their lives around..

There is a big differance between living your life to a moral standard and disregarding that standard to live as you please...

one allows you to challange a lifes difficulties....the other,...well we all saw the result of depending on others to support thier lifestyle....total dependancy....no matter how dire the situation became....

at what point would they have picked themselves up and pitched togeather to get out of that situation the world will never know.

unfortunatly some people will never see the differance.....maybe because they also depend on others to support themselves...

I am sure there was good caring family men in New Orleans! Most of them got their families out before the storm, and those that did not, were not out looting and crying about why the Government did not help them.

And I do believe lifetime welfare participants, drug dealers, looters, irresponsible parents and Criminals are second rate people.

If a person grew up in the ghetto's of inner America, what are their chances to become self supportive without proper guidance to map their way out? I would agree with the statement everyman has opportunity to succeed in America. That being said, the equation for a person in an inner city American ghetto,to get out and succeed is allot more cumbersome then a young adult from mid America with a family paid education..

You feel the problem lays at the feet of the people.I can see why you would say that,as you seem to think most should be highly motivated and well educated like yourself.Just that is not the case there.

To understand the whys one must first know the how's .Maybe after witnessing such blatant human suffering and the expectations of government support by those that suffered. Then the question maybe raised as to why is it that way?.Why do these people expect more than others? How does such dependency become not only expected by some people but also abused? It could be time for the system itself to find a way to created more independency rather then stifle growth of a somewhat lost part of society.

People are different, mostly because of their situation in life as they grow.Good parenting,a safe community environment and money do make a difference.I wont say it is impossible to succeed and rise up from under the thumb of the ghetto.I just feel without trying to understand the hurdles one must jump to become independent while growing up in such a drug laden, depressing and poorly educated society,a major injustice is done.when a judgment is made without taking this negatively entrenched lifestyle into focus fairness is gone .

It is easy to judge others and have the arrogance to judge oneself as being better then those they judge.Judging just is another way of keeping growth at bay.Real answers from good people are what's needed.Steve if you have a way out for all ,then i suggest you tell someone.

I think,it is like an onion, there are many layers to peel and tears to run before any ghetto life style will become independent to the point where people's dreams of a better life can become a reality.

unfortunatly some people will never see the difference..maybe because they can not see past thier own accomplishments ,or they don't care enough to understand. All men are equal, well at least in god's eyes they are.

As always this is just my opinion, and here as you all seem to think, means very little.....

good day to all.

PS
Many of you here look at me as a liberal bleeding heart,I really do not see myself as that but so be it,.....I have though decided to ask all of you to read this link and decide if maybe thier are ways in which you can help...Even an old jacket can bring warmth.or an old pair of shoes can stop pain...I thank all who have helped in the past.
