Which sire would you build your herd around?

I'm running some cows on share, which I'll likely have the chance to buy in the next 5 years. 50% of them will be culled for various reasons in the next couple years. I'm trying to decide on which direction to go in terms of sire selection. I have a forage-based operation. The cows don't get hay until the snow gets too deep to graze stockpiled pasture or cornstalks. They don't get silage or grain at all. I'd like to keep them black angus. So my question is, if you were in my shoes, which sire(s) would you build your herd around?

Buy bulls from an Angus breeder that is raising their purebreds the same way you are running your cattle...preferably in the same environment...preferably using their own herd sires...preferably linebred.

My worthless advise. :)

Where are the headwaters of the Mighty Swan Creek?

Grass Fed = Feed Efficient Cattle ? Right or Wrong, Some of the cattle I have been exposed to are Oak Hollow, Final Answer, Bennett Total, and Bando 9074.

These are Bulls I would love to have a hundred daughters out of each.

I would take a look at Kit Pharo's bulls, he has a spring and fall sale every year and provides free shipping to a few locations across the country. They are raised on a low input all forage environment in Eastern Colorado. I think he has what you're looking for.
