Our bulls are raised like mother nature intended.… on their mothers milk, and good grass. We do not creep feed our calves, and we wean the bulls between eight and nine months of age. They are fed all the hay they want, plus a concentrate mix geared towards an average daily gain of 2.75 pounds. These bulls could easily out-perform this moderate gain, but we'd rather have our customers happy with bulls that last, rather than push the bulls for higher ADG.

They are fed on our own ranch, so we can observe them daily. The bulls are raised in a large area to allow for abundant exercise so they'll be in the physical shape needed to breed your cows. We develop our bulls on this program so they will work better - and last longer - for our customers.

Quite a contradiction between the first sentence and the rest of the paragraph:

1-"Our bulls are raised like mother nature intended.… on their mothers milk, and good grass."

2-"They are fed all the hay they want, plus a concentrate mix geared towards an average daily gain of 2.75 pounds."

I guess marketing knows no boundaries.

Your point is what exactly Mike-they aren't creep fed and they get hay plus at the most 7lb of grain a day in the winter. Ohh by the way the owner plays hockey too-another strike against him too I bet lol. If you don't have an answer to the question why chirp up or is that what you do best.

You must be really dense. The first sentence says he only raises bulls on milk and grass.

Then he goes on to say he gives them concentrate..........

I don't give a **** if he plays hockey or tiddly winks, the paragraph is misleading.

NR, just curious on how you arrived at your numbers. Is a 7:1 feed conversion realistic to give the bulls 1 lb/day gain? And the free choice hay consumption provides the other 1.75? We aren't given any feed values or protein levels to work with here.

Mike talk about DENSE WITH A CAPITAL D-this isn't Alabama you tard-there's six months of winter here where there is no grass and the calves are weaned. I asked peoples opinions of the bulls not for another of your uninformed opinions. John I know they are getting 7lbs at the most because I asked the owner-not sure what the bulls are gaining this winter but that's what they are being fed. Geez ask a simple question and I get the Alabama Minister of Agriculture weighing in on winter rations in Saskatchewan-can you even find it on a map.

At last some real cattlemen replied-thank you very much. Neil and Gail have a very good set of cows-they used to be a bit bigger than I liked but were getting closer to agreeing every year. BMR are you going to make it down to the 4H deal-I might leave a day early and try and get a visit in down at Plentywood-see if any R-Calfers drowned out of their caves when Big Muddy Creek came up lol.

Of course I would like to have more info on bulls before I would select. But for what is shown, I would look at 26s, 35s, 51s, and 52s.

I'm going to cheat and go take a look at them in the flesh lol. There are several pretty useful bulls in the group though. Hopefully today I'll get a chance to check out 'canadian angus's' bulls at the salebarn. Neil says their site is getting updated this weekend with weights and scrotal measurements.
